Rossi Ranch hand

I have owned the 44 and the 357. I sold the 44 because the 357 was easier to shoot with less recoil. Off the bench milk jugs at 100m was fun game. Mine is used as a carry rifle while atving and camping. If I am helping another hunter it is my carry rig for that as well. Really enjoy mine. I will take it apart and slick it up one day as they are a little "notchy". Nice trigger though.

They are pretty accurate off the bench but I could never hold a decent sight picture "off-hand" thus the replacement stock. I really wanted to be able to shoot it well in it's stock form, that's why I bought it, but I came to the conclusion that that was not going to happen. Maybe from the "Creedmore" shooting position. I really should have tried that, lol. It was a fun toy but that's all it was to me and I wanted a working gun for protection/hunting while walking my dogs. In stock form just as a blaster it was a hoot though, I must say.
You're description of the action as "notchy" is perfect and I am thinking of cleaning mine up this winter. Have you found any how-to info anywhere?

Stivesgunz has a grate how to video
I did a action job on my Rossi it's nice and slick as #### now and the Trigger pull is about 4lb it's not that hard to do

OOHHHHHHH, me likey. The medium lever is very nice. What front sight? What load?

I fit a Marbles .538" high front sight, and my pet load is 15.0 gr. SR4759 held in place with a pinch of dacron fiber fill & topped with a hard cast 250 gr. Keith type boolit. I also use a load of 10.0 gr. Blue Dot under the same boolit and get good accuracy as well.

I put a "gunslinger spring kit" in mine, and it is sooo smooooth now! Well worth the money in my opion. I usually don't post reloading info but this is what I use, 11grs Unique and a 250 Hornady XTP hollow point. No recoil and very accurate in my rifle. Use this info at your own risk! I'm sure I can load this up quite a bit more, but I use the same ammo in my 1873 Pietta, so I don't want it too hot. I should mention that my rifle is the 16 inch Rossi with the smaller loop lever and full butt stock. I would love to buy a ranchhand and put a full length stock on it, but I can't find one with the small lever. And where would I get a full length stock? To elimsprint, where did you find one with the small lever? I really enjoy shooting mine, and I love the 45 colt. Good shooting to all, Toni.

Thank you.
I just got a 255gr RNFP mold and am going to cast my first bullets tomorrow. I have some Ramshot Silhouette powder that I'm going to try.
I'm going to wait till I figure out the load before I order a new front sight. Those Marbles look nice, I didn't even find them in my original search for replacement sights.

I'm going to look up that spring kit, thanks for the tip. You can get the stocks @http://www.rustywood.ca/access.html and other places. Any buttstock for a Rossi 92 will fit a Ranch Hand but the forestock may take some extra fitting. I was lucky and found that gun along with the unfinished stocks on the EE for a great price. I have no idea if it came stock with the small loop or it was added later. The gun seemed very lightly used so I am guessing it came that way.

Your RH would'a came with the big loop lever fer sure. On my .357 RH build-up, I just swapped the lever & butt stock from my .44 magnum Rossi Trapper.

Rossi's QC has taken a serious hit in the last few years. Inspect in person, check it for function, or order online from a dealer who will exchange a defective rifle.
I've had to send a brand new rifle back for warranty in the past for a broken loading gate, service was decent, 4 weeks turnaround.

So I have been working up a load for the RH. I am using my own cast bullets from a Lee 452-255-RNFP mold using wheel weight material which average 250gr in front of 13gr of Ramshot Silhouette for 1340fps with very decent (2" group) accuracy @ 50yds. The manual says I can go to 13.8gr but this load is working well and my shoulder is getting sore from testing:) I may yet mount a recoil pad and dump the aluminium butt plate I made, these are stiff loads for sure.
It has a Skinner barrel mount peep. The stock front sight is to low so I am either going to make myself a Patridge style or order up a Skinner fibre optic front, I haven't decided yet but I have started on the Patridge just to get the exact height I need and then if I like the Patridge I may stop there, we'll see.
This is sure a fun toy and will be a great "dog walker" to replace my single shot 12 ga.
