Rossi Ranch Hands - why the huge price bracket?

The ones made by Rossi, are not that great. However, there are many marked Rossi That are made by "Br#####h" which apparently has taken over things and picked up the slack on quality control. For those interested, Factory 240gr. chrono at around 1550fps with about 900ft. Good enough for bush work in my books.

I figure the ones at epps might be "old" Rossi stock that they are blowing out. Prices may go up there when they receive the br#####h ones. I could be wrong, but just a guess

Need a higher front sight than this one?

The one I got says "Made for Rossi by Taurus"

Br#####h is the importer of Rossi and Rossi branded Taurus guns- form what I understand

My Factory sight is like the one you picture and is .460" or so high. The get these guns to shoot to point of aim at 25 yards, you either need to install a.570" front sight and use the factory sight on lowest setting, or install a .530" front sight and something like a marbles rear tangent sight.

Anyway, I walked outside to my range, took 35 paces from the targets and let er rip at the 10" x10" gong. I first used some Trailboss loads with cast bullets (light loads) and they hit the target. Loaded with 300gr XTP that I use in my 45 Colt Mdl94 Trapper @ 1600fps, and they all smacked the gong.

I'm putting the little bead into the very lowest little notch of the buckhorn sights. It's not shooting too high at all, although I loathe that type of sight as it's so slow.

I found all loads quite comfortable to shoot. The XTP loads can be a handful in a revolver, but I felt they were no problem in the Ranch Hand.

The sighting system is far to slow for me to even think about it as a defensive tool- at least at this point.

Maybe the .45 colts are a bit better regulated out of the box?
Until you shoot some paper it's hard to tell exactly where it's hitting for elevation.....maybe you are 4-5 inches high on your gong.
Where you aiming center of gong?

My .44 was about 10 inches high at a similar distance out of the box from what I remember.

Right out of the box, lowest setting. I've only fired 10 shots in my backyard range. It is only 90 yards. I'll do some more testing with it, but at the very least I want a rear sight I can use swiftly and easily for hunting. I won't be putting a full size stock on it, already got the 16" barrel Mdl 94. :)

I've got the XS ghost ring/front blade on my Trapper. It's fast and accurate. I'll play around with this new arrival a bit, see where it's hitting on paper tomorrow or Friday I expect. :)

Nice rifle SHUCKER.

Gracias amigo.

I may do up another one in .44 caliber, but seein' that I have my bases pretty much covered by
having one RH carbine in .357 an another one in .45 Colt, I'm not in a rush to go there.

I would be ever so happy to get a Ranch Hand in either .25-20 or .32-20 Win.
Time to start a letter writin' mission to Br#####.:runaway:

I'd love a 357 if you happen to come across another.
