So I got my Ranch hand and took it to the range the other day. As predicted by many here and on other sites it shot high. Not too bad of a group but 12" high.

I have heard guys saying they replace the rear sight but what have you been replacing with?

Also what has anyone found for a reasonably priced efficient hip holster for one?
By the way I am NOT putting a "shoulderable" but stock on it.

Thanks.

What do you want the holster for? Walking around in the bush or just somewhere to but the gun when you need both hands?
The Gunbucket looks pretty good to me if you just want some where to hang your gun on your belt while using both hands....otherwise strapped to, or in the pack is where mine would be if it's not in my hand.
There is a lot of sight info in the epic thread that should be stickied some where. A taller front sight will give you more options for the rear.

How are the Henry's for shooting with factory sites? What are leg holster options? Is there a left leg holster? Is there any one cal that is more accurate than the other's? Any helpfull info is appreciated. Have been thinking about one in 357mag/38Spl or maybe the 45 LC.

I mounted a Leupold Deltapoint reflex sight on mine and it's amazing how much more accurate I can shoot it!

Can you show us how you mounted it?

I think I solved my holster question. My daughter gave me a "funny" gift at Christmas. It is a "beer can" holster with a leg tie down and everything. Meant to keep a spare beer in but my ranch hand fits nicely in it. I will have to add a strap that goes up and over my shoulder so my pants stay up.

I took an aluminum picatinny rail blank and machined a radius profile in it to match the barrel. I drill and tapped the top of the barrel with a couple of holes and mounted it.

The deltapoint I had lying around was a standard rail mount version. I will be sending in the rail to get anodized black.

Ideally I would turf off the rail and make a new bottom mount to fit the sight. This way it would sit nice and low.

The fancy new mount was more work than I wanted that day and the extra height doesn't really impact "cheek-weld" (On a gun with NO cheek-weld)

It's a WAY better setup than the crappy iron sights. Alternately I could mount a Trijicon RMR or a small aimpoint. Being a novelty gun the leupold is a good fit.

My next mod is to make a pop-out stock so I can shoulder it. If I can get it done before the fall I would be tempted to take it deer hunting!

Cheers! :)
