I owned one in 45/70 Stainless, I have owned a few different 45/70 rifles, I liked the light weight of the Rossi and liked it more than a Mares leg and short carbine 44 Rossi's that I owned. I don't recall why I sold it, I presently have a Henry 45/70 that I prefer over Marlin. I think the Rossi Rio Grande was a copy or inspired by the Marlin 336. I carried the Rio Grande more than I shot it however when I did shoot it I don't recall the recoil being bad and I recall a Pachymar style recoil pad that worked quite well. I think they may be discontinued. I don't need a 45/70 right now but I would not object to owning one again.
