Looking at getting some single shot rifles and came across the Rossi/Puma version of the Single shot rifles. I'm just wondering are they as good as the NEF's and H&R's out there? Looking at getting lighter caliber rifles as all I have right now is a 308 and it would be nice to have something like a 270 or a 243 kicking around for hunting and shooting. Variety is the spice of life.

Thanks

CK.

stick with the h&r

Personally I'm more NEF as they have a stock design that doesn't make me feel like my arm's falling off (English strait stock) How I avoid that design. Reason I ask is found some Rossi's being Cheaper then the H&R and NEF's and IN STOCK which is the biggest problem whenever I look for them no one has them in stock.

I too would like to know why you used a 4 word response a reason would be nice.

some of the rossi combos like the trifecta are a really good value - a 3-barrel set for $300 (20 gauge, .22lr, .243). quality is what you would expect at that price range with some plastic parts, but the people i know who have them are pretty happy with them... well, as happy as you can be with something like a rossi/cooey/NEF/stevens type thing.

the problem is actually getting your hands on them - rossi dealers have a really hard time actually getting guns their customers order in. after a ridiculously long wait - something like 6-8 months later than promised and constant postponements from rossi - i cancelled my order for a trifecta.

I went ahead and ordered the Rossi in .243 which will work as a decent deer and yote gun for me as I hand load just need to find the bullet weight it loves to shoot. If I like it I'll order the other one if it's still around. But if not at least I got one of the 2 guns :D I did use google and other then 1 post everyone loved there Rossi rifles and that 1 poster eventually changed there mind once Rossi fixed the gun. Figured I'd try one out. Cheap, available (which I can't say for the other brands at this time) and in a totally different caliber then my .308 though they do share the same parent cartridge. That along with my BP rifle I should have many hours of Fun reloading and experimenting with powder loads. I'd still love to hear what you think of the rossi rifles if you have one. Any advice on what to mount on it. Was thinking a 3-9x40 Simmons scope I have laying around at first just to get her shooting.

I have both rossi and hmr both are great!!!
my rossi is the 243/22/20 gal and LOVE it
took my first buck with it this year and a nice doe at 150y and a dead run wicket gun :)
light easy to shoot!!!!!! very accurate!
I'd say its a very good choice

yeah they also have it in .22lr, 20ga and .44 mag.

but again, good luck getting one.
if anyone knows a place in Canada actually stocking these (not just able to order them from Rossi - been there tried that ), then please let me know.

i planned on buying the youth set with the short barrels, then shortening the LOP a bit further and making it into a takedown backpacking gun with your choice of barrels for different applications.

mines just the Rossi 243 no additional barrels though it comes with a muzzle brake I can put on....or so it says.....as for dealers I'm gonna hold off saying where I got mine till I get it to see if I want the 270 also. Though I only found it by Chance.

Rossi

I have one with a .17hmr, .270 and a BP .50 and I certainly have no complaints. The little .17 is really surprisingly good. I scoped it and my son used it for gophers.......worked great. Light, simple and a good truck package. I guess it all boils down to what you like.

My neighbour got one of those 3-in1's for christmas a couple of years ago. after 2 shots out of 2 of the barrels, the action opened up each time. it went right back to the store.

Hey mbp
Have caught Rossi's matched set yet? They've been redily available at Calgary's Bass Pro early Jan. Sorry I havent seen this topic before...

i've got a rossi lever action in .454 casull . the steel quality is very nice , tolerances on the action are good and with some very minor stone work on the action the action is very very slick and fast .
it also shoots nice tight groups too .
if this quality carries over into their other products i wouldn't hesistate to buy something else made by them .
