Hello,

I am wondering if it is possible to find round nose jacketed bullets, similar to the old 1890's types, before the Sptizer rounds, or something equivalent for 303 and/or 7.62 X 54R. I want to make some fun loads and was hoping to buy a few round nose, but when I called a local shop, they said they had round nose. I went over and they had round nosed, but only in lead and only jacketed with an exposed lead tip, not what I was hoping for. Any ideas gents?

Earlier this year I bought some Sierra RN 180gr in 30 cal (7.62) from Cabelas Canada.
Not a bad bullet by any means.

edit: just checked, Sierra RN ProHunter are on backorder. You can still order them if you're not in a hurry.

I don't think anybody makes a .311" RN FMJ or solid. I don't think there is much demand for such a thing, seeing as nobody shoots elephants with a .303 anymore.

I would just go with the common 180 grain RNSPs.

Hornady makes a 174 grain .312" RN SP. Shooter's Choice wants $36.95 per 100.
Speer makes a 180 grain .311" RNSP. Epp's carries Speer, et al.
You won't find an RNFMJ. Steve's .313" or .314" 200 grain bullets are full jacted, semi-spitzers.
CMJ's are plated, not jacketed.

Finding RNFMJ's? I don't know if you'll have any luck. There are two RN I use in the my two 303Br. Jungle Carbines. First, a popular one sunray mentioned that works well and one of my favorites is the Hornady 174grRN Interlock, 0.312" . The second RN is one I picked up fairly recently. It's a Woodleigh 215gr Weldcore RN SN, also 0.312". The Woodleigh's are somewhat pricey, but, I 'needed' them;).
