round went off in magazine 1911

so far as near as i can figure, I had a round go off in the magazine of my 1911. It had to have been stove piped in the magazine. blew the left grip off and split the right. the guts of the magazine all blew out on the ground and a fired round is jammed in the chamber. nice rounded divot in the top of the clip and the spring. I will post pics shortly. Has anyone ever had this happen? have a couple of scratches on my face so something blew back and hit me. wifes gun, she is gonna be pissed. haha

I've seen it with double charges but that's when the pressure blows back and sometimes set of the first and sometimes second round in the magazine

Glad you're safe. A recent post was showing a FN going kaboom and the owner was not as lucky as you were. Severe hand injuries.
