Hello

I bought a Rem 700 270WSM second hand. It has a SAKO Extractor installed, up for debate but personally do no have an issue with this modification. Upon further inspection, I noticed that the ejector plunger rod is rounded instead of flat. Either it was modified for some reason or it is aftermarket. It looks like it was made that way due to a nice polished finish with no tool marks.
Why was this done? Does it provide anything over a normal flat faced factory ejector

Thanks

Butchering the 700 to install part of the Sako extractor system causes a few problems. The empties want to eject high and often hit the scope is one of them.... so the ejector is modified to try and alleviate this problem.

The other problem is the strength and safety of the original 700 design being compromised. What once was the safest and strongest 2 lug bolt action made is now less safe than an old factory Sako.
