Routine Cleaning of Ruger PC Carbine PC9 Goes Sideways

Personally, I'd have loved if they hadn't made that part directional. If it matters then the part should only go back together one way.

Yes. Aside from the materials they used for it, I would have preferred if they made a housing for the entire length up to the shock buffer rather than having the recoil rod as the only connector to the shock buffer. Seems like small single point of contact is also small single point of wear and failure. And yes, making the retaining clip only attach one way would prevent it from moving when taking that whole assembly apart.

Took apart 12 to 14 times? damn......I never even cleaned my AR once since 2013 and the only problem I have encounted is Liberal Ban last year which make the gun unable to fire........

That is encouraging to hear. How many shots were put through that AR, though since 2013? I should mention that 12-14 times for me is this year alone. I shoot that Ruger at every range trip (1-2 times a week at first, weekly after that) and put hundreds of rounds through it each trip. Although with the front lower bolt/screw starting to strip, I am going to put some distance between cleanings. Not to mention my last experience wasn't exactly incentive to continue doing this.

Just because you can take it all apart doesn't mean you should. Especially so many times. Solvent, hot water, compressed air, re-lube.

I have well in excess of 1k rounds through my PCC, no failures and no cleaning, only a few shots of G96. Im trying to see how long it will go before it gives a hint of problems. None yet. As others have said, shoot more, clean less!!

I have a brand new Tandemkross TG9 trigger for that firearm if you know anyone interested. I ended up with 2 after an 8 month CBSA mess up. They are around $400 retail. I'll drop it $100 and ship it overnight. It drops right in and is a noticeable difference.

Having borrowed a PC9 and cleaned it after, yup, it's a weird ordeal for sure. The one I borrowed was the take-down model, I think that helped immensely. Also the recoil/bolt system reminds me of my WS-MCR a bit so maybe that helped? I don't mind a good cleaning session, I find it meditative and try never to do it when I'm in a rush. If I'm in a hurry, it waits until the following day.
