I have a few quick questions about the RPAL. Do you write and do the practical test at the same place as PAL? (Fisheries and wildlife) Do you have to be a member of an approved shooting range to buy a handgun or just to get permission to transport and use it.

Yup. We need your province to give you the proper info. I know it doesn't make sense because firearms are federally-regulated, but trust me, you'll soon learn that different provincial CFOs "interpret" the Firearm Act howver they please, and nobody does a damn thing about it.........

Don't know about NB) have decided that since you can't shoot restricted firearms anywhere but at an approved range/club and can't get an ATT without being a club member, they won't do a transfer unless you are a club member. There's no law that says this though. It's just the CPFO's policy.
Joining a club has a lot of advantages. You'll meet some great people who will become good friends and it'll open doors. Invitations to hunt, etc.
