I submitted my renewal on-line late in the first week of July and had my new good for 5 more years RPAL card in my wallet on July 22nd! I did make sure to have a proper photo taken at CAA as they have the template specs, they gave me the photo file on a USB stick. You can sort out the photo yourself, there is software that you can download but I am lazy and maybe a bit inept. The RCMP took my money of course and for service this efficient I say money well spent.

Just wanted to share a story too good to be true - but it is!

I renewed mine with a phone picture, I definitely look like I had drank too much the night before in it. It was accepted though lol, only took three weeks to get my card in hand after submitting.

Been two weeks now and still waiting lol. How long is the Ontario CFO taking to approve the renewal nowadays?

http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf/online_en-ligne/firearms-licence-permis-armes-a-feu-eng.htm This is a federal gig not a provincial one. As I mentioned I applied on-line not by paper and mail...

This is a provincial CFO gig. I’ve called 3 times. In Onterrible there is a backlog I was told and to call back in 3 weeks. I sub, tired ,y renewal 5 months early to be ahead of the game but alas it’s going to be awhile
All renewals have to go through the Provincial CFO I was told.

Just an additional input, a friend had a pending renewal few months back. He got a call from supposedly "Justice Ontario or Courts Ontario" or whatsoever. Their reason, our club is not on their records. I told him to ask them, if they work under CFO and they should refer to CFO as they have the list of clubs operating in Ontario. To sum up, you don't need a club membership to have a license or even a firearm. I hope this is just an isolated case.

im kinda pissed off now!

i submitted mine last year at the beginning of November, my birthday was in January, i had to call them a couple days before my birthday because i was getting worried, they told me i was fine, ended up getting it mid to late February.
so 5 months.

they told me that December delayed mine, but still..... 5 months!

* done online and this was just a renewal

My son has been waiting for his PAL. Renewing. Sent third week of June. Called first week of Sept. Was advised there are many applications and the are backlogged. Funny that if they have been experiencing such workload would demand increased staff. I was told back in April when i applied for my RPAL that their office was very busy. When i worked for the Governement we had to address the needs as they arose. Im sure there are staff to assist with the application process so applicants can receive their PAL's and RPAL's in a timely fashion.

Glad to see the system works for some. Personally I submitted Jan 23rd and still don't have the license although it says it has been issued. I think it depends a lot on what province and individual you get.
