I've had my PAL for many years and started working on my RPAL last fall. I passed the restricted course and sent in my license application (with proof of course completion) back in October. My references were called and I was also called by the RCMP a few weeks later. Now here we are about 4 months later and the status of my application is still just listed as passed preliminary screening. I called Miramichi just after Christmas and the lady said my application is with the local CFO so it's been there at least a month.

I have no criminal record, so am I missing something? Am I supposed to go and take a local course and get my ATT first or something like that? Am I waiting to here from the local CFO, or is there something else I am supposed to do? Why does this simple upgrade take so long and is this tyipcal?

Call the Ontario CFO. Make him earn his $135,000.:D

Nothing to do with the ATT.

When you join a club and do all the necessary safety courses and supervised shoots ect, they will apply for the ATT for you.

You could have the same name as someone with a criminal record. Wouldn't be the first time that happened.

I am in the same boat myself. I spoke with the Orillia office and spoke to a supervisor, she was very helpful with the situation. She did tell me they were really back logged though, may be worth giving them a call?

I went through the same thing recently . After 3 months I called the CFO , nobody answering. I left a message but not expecting anything. The supervisor called me back about 5 min. later . She was sorry about the delay and she told me my application is approved on the spot.

Update... I called Feb. 9th and was told my RPAL is approved and awaiting printing. They said I should have it by end of the month.

So, recognizing that my wait time included the Christmas holidays I still think 5 months is too long. But "all's well that ends well", I guess.
