I shot one of these several years ago. The RPG 'rocket' was the firearm, and took a 7.62x39 round. IIRC you could hit something at 100m, but beyond that accuracy wasn't there... Pretty cool kit, but even then was out of my price range.

The tube itself is over 20mm prohib. (Pre OIC the tube[not rockets] were NR)
The sub caliber device has it's own entry and its still NR.
The problem is your tube doesn't meet current deactivation standards.
I see it becoming a very expensive court case over if RCMP deactivation standards have legal merit or not.

I have one - the launcher itself is deactivated but it’s still a grey area as to “how deactivated is deactivated”.
The sub cal training rocket has its own firing pin and spring that is tripped by the hammer in the launcher, so it’s possible that the deactivated launcher is simply a holder for the sub cal unit which is the firearm.
Will probably consult more before I head to the range again with it post-OIC...

How I see it is the launcher is prohibited by name now. So after reading the deactivation process, you have to weld something into the "barrel" but not completely fill it on barrels over .50 and single shots dont need the trigger welded. Hense where the idea to further customize it to only accept the sub caliber unit.

I guess it would fall under "FIREARMS OF UNUSUAL DESIGN OR CONSTRUCTION" which basically means all deactivation measures must be in effect.
"A hardened steel blind pin of bore diameter or larger must be force fit through the
barrel at the chamber, and where practical, simultaneously through the frame or
receiver, to prevent chambering of ammunition. Furthermore, the blind pin must be
welded in place so that the exposed end of the pin is completely covered by weld. This
strength and hardness of the weld must be similar to that of the metal used in the
construction of the firearm. In the case of firearms having calibres greater than
12.7mm (.5 inch), the pin need not be larger in diameter than 12.7mm. "
If it can't fit regular rockets it probably wont fit the training device. Plus that is only the first of the 5 steps of deactivation.
Wow thanks yukoner, lol these new laws are so frusterating the item could not fire a live round safely however its now on a list and has to be deactivated to the standards of the new laws or kept locked up . So whats the differnce if you have these items grand fathered vs deactivated.
So if I did happen to have an M72 tube will it be part of the buy back and what will I get for it................

Empty fibreglass tubes like the M72 present special problems in deactivation. I suppose the Dragon would be in a similar situation. It would be difficult to weld (JB "Weld"?) a pin of bore diameter or greater across the chamber and receiver, never mind trying to comply with the other guidelines. What will probably happen is that the pony boys will decide that weapons that don't fit the guidelines can not be properly deactivated and must be destroyed.
It might make more sense to say that firing a non-reloadable weapon deactivates it, or to say that the rocket was the weapon and the container it came in is irrelevant. However, with global warming, I don't think Hell is going to freeze over any time soon.

A bit of a resurrection of this thread, but a Canadian dealer has several reactivated RPG-7 launchers for sale right now (May, 2022) post-ban, and one of the 7.62 x 39 sub-caliber training rockets as well. Over $8k now. I haven't contacted them to check whether the subcal rocket can still be fired or even chambered in one of their deactivated RPGs, but perhaps there is hope!
