Who has a previous Gen? From what I can see it's just a change from key mod to mlok on handguard. I don't get to shoot further than 200 but a cpl times per year but this fall I am going to attend a long range course with an ex cf sniper. I'm thinking I'm going to get one in 6.5 or my other option is a barrelled action and put it In a cadex.in the end for rifle alone I'm about same price..... Opinions??

Pretty much the only difference. Plus the bolt is now black.... Everything mechanically the same.

My gen 2 .308 shoots 1/2 to 3/4 moa consistently with Federal GM 168gr. Love it.

I'd say if gen 3 is around $1800 you should just pick up a gen 2 for 1400-1500. Unless you can't deal with keymod...

Yeah I wanted 308 or 6.5 so still all good to me. I hate key mod but changing a handguard isn't a big deal but maybe ends up being same price in the end
I think 1699 was price for Gen 3.
For 2k flat I could do r700 barrelled action 6.5 or 308 in a cadex.in but either way I'd be doing a trigger so.....

Ruger Precision Rifle is going to be in three caliber offerings: 6mm Creedmoor, 6.5 Creedmoor, and .308 Winchester. Also the “Keymod vs. M-LOK” debate, Well it's M=LOK for the Gen 3 rifle.

Been very happy with my gen1 308. Where I have the choice I will go mlok over keymod but to save $400 it's worth it. I would have gone with creedmoor if I could find it at the time but the 308 is a tack driver.

As the RPR is a Ruger American you could do comparable sof trued rem actions against an American I’d say if you could a custom build by a reputable gunsmith like Insite would be your best bet. Then you don’t need to concern yourself with mlok vs KM

And they culled the 5.56 caliber option.

In my opinion it was stupid to kill the 223 because it's the best caliber for the RPR if you are a hand loader.

It's the only production rifle I know of that allows to feed long rounds from a mag.

Box 223 ammo is about 2.25 inches long but the RPR in 223 feeds up to 2.5 inches long. That allows loading of 80 grain bullets seated long for extra powder capacity and feed from the Mag.

Short of the RPR a 2.5 inch long round is a single shot only load for 223.

I get 2850 FPS with mine with 80 grainers with a BC aroung 0.460 so thats not bad.
