RRA 9mm AR - who has pinned hi cap mags?

I bought a RRA 9mm AR, and I have the pinned 10 round mags that Questar sells. I'm trying to locate a legally pinned hi capacity mag, which I realize would be pinned to just 5 rounds. Questar won't order them from RRA, any ideas?

Talk to MetalForm who make the original mags. If Questar place a large enough order MetalForm will make them.

Arms East sold 32 round (pinned at 5) colt mags for the Thureon Defense. They were very reasonably priced at $49.99. Unfortunately they are Out of Stock.

They did have a slight modification to the follower for the Thureon, but I'm pretty sure they would work fine in other rifles.

I'm pretty sure they will have stock again in the next month or two.

The Thureon Defense magazine is different than a Colt AR15 9mm mag. I think they actually are Uzi magazines. At least I know that Uzi mags do fit Thureons. Uzi mags, as I've said, are futile and unreliable in AR conversion blocks.

The Thureon uses a dedicated magwell probably designed around the Uzi magazine.

I got the metal colt and the poly promags from h y c a p s, and they both work flawlessly. Questar will probably not order from RRA because they had those promag 10/32 and marked them LAR. which they are not and if you see those around they are illeagal. H y c a p s tryied to get me 10/32 mags, even going so far as to try modifieng uzi pistol mags to fit but those were prohib too. But he will send you as many as you want so don't bother with anyone else.

^^ all those mags are worth more than the gun in canada!

They have mags for the 9mm AR-15 manufactured by C Products for $29.95. In the U.S.

from what I read, if you want to order original colt mags, they're about 50$ USD for original ones (down in the US) - just gotta cap em somehow!

So you are saying Questar was selling illegal pro-mag magazines?

I don't know who was selling them but all I know is that 10/32 mags for a 9mmAR are prohib. Was going to try the uzi pistol mags because they would be "manufactured" so to speak but after posting in the legal section I got the info and sent it to him. It was a no go situation even though they are pistol mags. If it was at all possible to have 10/32 mags h y c a p s would have shipped them. Taking a 10/32 and stenciling it as a lar pistol mag is illegal as it is not a mag designed for a pistol. It is a centerfire rifle mag therefor it has to be 5 rounds. Period. He even asked RRA about it as I sent him a link of the EE of one for sale and RRA told him they did not have a clue about it. So how those mags came about I don't know cause I would love to have 10/32's. And if those mags are "legal" how come a 10/32 for our .556NATO would not be. Same thing right?

I'd stay away from the C-Products mags, too many issues with them. Colt did use them as OEM for a little while but dropped them and went back to Metalform, their original OEM supplier.

****** would be a good option if he could source Metalform mags.

ETA: Wow! Seriously? The above censored info should read h y c a p s.

Thanks to everyone for their comments and suggestions, it certainly helped.

I'm really puzzled that no Canadian dealer has imported any pinned hi cap AR 9mm mags, there seems to be plenty of interest and demand, but I guess it runs a distant second to the .223/556 AR system, so the retail potential is far less and not worth the effort, too bad.

Thanks to Questar for providing the pistol 10 rounders. They're great fun to shoot and work very well.

We have sources for those (pm me). There were 10/32s here, no longer approved for importation. Not sure if that means they are illegal.

My point that I have been trying to get across to the people that posess them is that if they were legal you could just turn around and stencil a 5.56 30 rounder as lar and pin it to ten. If it's cool for 9mm why not 5.56? My interpretation is that proccess is not legal.

I really like having 10 rnds, and a functional bolt catch.

So I just added an extension to the bottom of the Questar mags. Easier to get out of pouches, protects thme from the drop drop during speed reloads and looks cooler!

For the 9mm, its just a painted piece of ABS plastic, and for the .223 is a modified coupler and a donor Norc mag.

I think I will paint the bottom half of the .223 mag once I tract down a paint that matches.

I absolutly love my 9mm AR. The 9mm is cheep and easy to reload (no trimming or lube). You can shoot softer steel targets without blowing holes in them. OK in pistol bays.

It almost always comes to the range with me. I used it so much that I set up a dedicated lower for it so I dont have to change out the parts.

Nice job!

I have to say that I love my 9mm AR 15 for all the same reasons, just so much fun to shoot and cheap. I can't ever see my self selling it unless to buy another one. The Lone Wolf version that takes glock mags is seriously tempting though, and block mags are as common as they come.
