RRA free float sleeve question.

Recently received a rra free float sleeve and attempted an install. I encountered a problem however and have a question. The gas block I have is a clamp on a2 style and i believe the sleeve is designed for a pin on type and does not clear the sling point that is included on the free float sleeve. I removed the sling point from the gas block as the instructions on the sleeve suggested, however it still will not clear.

One option I have is to remove the sling point from the sleeve as well that would remove the obstruction, but it would mean no more sling option.

Another option is to find a clamp on gas block with a slimmer profile. Anyone know of one?

Thought about that, but in order to remove enough to clear I would be grinding into the threaded holes on the block.

I just went through this.

The easiest way is to just buy a plain A2 fsb, grind the swivel ears off and tap the hole to 8x32 or 8x40 for a set screw.

Zero your windage with your rear sight centered, then use green loctite on both front and rear bands.

If you're feeling lucky, or aren't super fussy about your rear sight being centered you can skip the set screw.

I'm wondering if could bend the tab down and out of the way. Would still allow for sling mounting.

One other option is cut it off, then use a small rail section on the handguards for a sling mount.
