Greetings. This is my first ever post. The picture speaks volumes. It was not my gun, hand, or reload.

The back story: a first time reloader took advice from a sales clerk, bought an unknown powder, no manual and proceeded based on "internet".

The shooter didn't bleed, but his hand was swelling even after ten minutes of ice. We told him to go buy a lottery ticket.

We dis-assembled the .40 cal to investigate: it took five minutes with a vise and vise grips. We found a capacity load that we thought might be 700X.

Angels must not like Darwin awards. They intervened.

Regarding unknown powder. I'm sure it was labelled, but the fellow couldn't recall what it was, or how much he'd used. Of course, he was in shock. I'm not sure I could remember much if it had been my hand. Being old and forgetful, I now tend to write things down.

All my loaded rounds are labelled. When I get to the range, I have the full recipe with me should anyone want to know what I'm shooting.

Also, I usually have a few different loads with me and I like to know if I'm putting hot rounds in the mag. :D
