Rubber 1911 grip recommendation?

What rubber grips would you guys recommend for a single stack 1911 in 45ACP? Full wraparounds are a definite no for my small hands.

I am thinking one with the thumb reduction would be best, for easy access to the mag release. But more importantly.... is there anyone that makes grips with a trigger finger reduction? I have always found myself wanting a groove in the right side of the grip where my trigger finger lays. I found the side of the knuckle on my trigger finger always gets sore from being jammed against where the grip's arc protrudes.

I like the look and idea of the finger grooves on the front wrap around portion of the grip Pachmayr Signatures. Kind of like the Glock grip. Anyone have any comment on this model? I know some people hate the finger grooves on the newer Glocks. What are your feeling on front wrap arounds, vs the plain un-connected panel grips?

Thanks!

The Pachmayr's would be a good choice (IMO ).
They are comfortable for most people and also have metal inserts to protect the hand in case there is a ruptured case that blows hot gases down into the mag well.
It has never happened to me but I know of 2 people that had it happen,

I have the Pachmayr signature grippers and I really like them.
I would say my hands are about average size... I can palm a volleyball and a grippy basketball if that gives you any indication of hand size.

I bought them purely on looks (yes I like the way they look :p ) but once installed, they're pretty comfortable for me...

i have pac's on both of mine- the signature series, not the gripper- if you start doing a lot of competition, you may want to rethink your grips- your hands will sweat, the rubber becomes slippery- some of the guys i know have cut the grip in half and put a regular wood grip( with sharp checkering) on one side so it doesn't slip- i use a glove like a driver's glove-

I have those Hogues also, they feel great, not too tacky, not too slick, and are slimmer than normal in profile yet still support the plunger tube just fine.

For me, the thinner the better. Does anyone find that the finger grooves on the Pac Signature grips gives them better control/traction of the gun?

I find that on my Glock they really help.

Also... what do you guys like for sights? I really like to look of the Heinie sights, but I don't like the idea of having the slide machined to accept them. I am not looking for adjustable, and not looking for night sights.

What is the difference or advantage of the SlantPro Heinie sights over the Original Heinie sights?

grips with finger grooves sure look cool and feel good in my hand. But. Since I installed them my groups opened up quite a bit. And I can feel I have little different pressure points and control, hard to explain but I think original ugly wooden checkered grips give better control. With those original grips fingers more like supporting each other giving better more stable grip. Hogue grips that I have with every finger sitting in individual grove doesn't have that strong feel. I still keep my hogue grips because they look cool and I spent 30$ already and want some return on investment.

Me myself I, never liked the feel or look of the fat wrap around grips. I do however like the Kimber rubber grips. I think they are the same as Hogue. It's all personal preference. See what fits your hand best.

Thanks guys. I think I have made my mind up regarding the grips.

Now I just need help with the sights. I really don't want to get the slide machined. Has anyone here tried the Novak Ghost Sight for the rear? I have heard some great things about this sight. Anyone know if the slide has to be machined to accept this one?

For wraparound I prefer the Pachmayr's without thumb swells [and no finger grooves on the front stap]...

The Pachs are nice as they have metal inserts on the side panels. At one time they made some for Colt with Colt medallions inset:

The soft Hogue panels are also a nice grip. Have a set on my Norc NP29...

Personally, I can't stand wraparound grips that have finger grooves on the front strap. Or synthetic grips that are 'hard grips'.... Synthetic grips give a much nicer hold if there is some 'give' in them.

Just my .02

NAA.
