Ruffies....Mmmmmmmmmmmmm

Most excellent, ABB :) I've been known to pack the Coleman stove along and after picking off a feed of chickens, it's out with the frying pan and fresh grouse breasts fried up in butter for "shore lunch".

Hey bigbore, what zone were they taken in? So far down around waiprous and longview we've seen a whopping total of 0 grouse, but my Dad and I are heading north to the Hinton/Grand Cache area on Friday for some supplemental antlerless fun, last year there were ruffies all over up there.

I took my wife out 2 weekends ago and she shot her first ever grouse (4 of em) Unfortunately they wern't Ruffed but Spruce so waiting for a good day to roast them up wrapped in bacon!!! Would have prerfered ruffed but am very proud of her... 4 grouse, 3 head shots! I taught her well!!!

Any of you Alberta boys know of any crown land close to Edson where a guy could go grouse hunting? I am gonna be in Edson In the beginning of Oct for a visit and thought I might buy a 3-day bird permit.

frying pan??? :(
cant hump that much waight in the bush :/, I cary one of those small grill crates to put over a small fire, on top of some stones, admitedly i just started doing it and havent had a chance to cook anything up yet but its a hell of a lighter choice then a pan

nice pic

hang em on a coat hanger over the fire if you want to go ultra low weight. a couple packets of salt and pepper from your local fast food joint and a little sauce or butter if you want.

rhino519, my pickup trucks have no problem carrying a 2 burner Coleman and a frying pan along with some bread & butter, salt & pepper and a cooler with cold drinks :p Bingo ABB, that's the way most of the guys I know do it. tommyguitar, I've heard of using Shake n Bake, but haven't tried it...yet. Mmmm...BBQ Glaze ditch chicken ;) And yes I fillet the breast fer my fried grouse sammich :) Damn, you guys are making me hungry for a feed of ruffies...

 I know, cant afford truck for now, ever since my dakota went kaput i feel so short handed :(

don't feel bad.. I've been hunting out of a 2008 dodge grand caravan LOL ! ...... But this year I was given an old beater truck...... By the mother in law when she bought her new dodge ram. It has 500,000kms on her.. Runs likes a top and looks like crap.. Was maintained by the motherinlaws ex husband mechanic. 1992 GMC with 5 speed manual. bring on the moose. :)
