Ruger #1 scope base

A picture would help - what model is the rifle? What seems to be wrong with the way the base sits? Factory or after market currently? What rings are you using?

What makes you think that it isn't "sitting true?"

Have you mounted and sighted a scope? If not, do that before you start changing things around.

If the base appears to be tipped left or right, changing the base will probably not help. If the base appears to be misaligned in relation to the barrel, changing the base will probably noy help since it would be the holes which are misaligned. I think I would see how scope mounting goes before I panicked and replaced the base.

Ive asked a few people and they said the same thing at local gun shops. Not sure if Ruger had any quality control issues but maybe with this one. Ill take your guys advice and mount a scope and go from there.

And for the guys that are watching the thread

Misaligned quarter ribs are not that uncommon. I had a custom quarter rib made for mine, and the gunsmith reported that the factory quarter rib was under considerable tension when he removed it. The purpose behind the custom quarter rib was to place the ocular forward of the falling block, thus it wouldn't obstruct the loading ramp, and ensured I wouldn't get tagged when the .416 recoiled. The downside was that the long eye relief prevented me from using more than 3X of the 1.5-5X, but a lack of magnification never prevented me from making a shot, or getting a hit.

Well by the sounds of it, Im not the only one has experienced this, FatUglyMan. I guess I was right when I second guessed myself.

Instead of worryinng about me, maybe you should worry about how you spend your time. Theres better things to do rather than troll the internet.

You need to relax. If you can't take a little ribbing when you type something that can be interpreted two ways, you won't last long around here.

And there's nothing better than trolling. Way more relaxing than casting for suckers.
