Ruger #1 scope mount question

I recently acquired a Ruger #1 RSI. I mounted a Leupold M8 -4x, but it seems the eyepiece is still too far from my eye. There isn't space to put both rings forward of the adjustment knobs. All my other scopes are in the same situation. Someone else must have run into this, what are some solutions?

I don't want to shorten the stock.

You can get rings that are offset at the base. I have one on my #1B. I have only one and it works for me but two are an option. Mine came with the rifle. I don't know if you can get them any place other than Ruger. Some one here should know...ST...

I believe the correct part No. is 52306 for Leupold's 1" Extension Ringmounts for the Ruger No. 1.

Yes, ... that's what they're made for.

I had the same problem with my 1B even after I had put a setback base on it. Then I found out that the Nikon scope I was looking at had a 1 in longer tube so problem solved. I think it was a Monarch variable. Same eye relief as my Leupie and the Bushnell 4200 and killer optics (Nikon of course eh?).
