hey guys
I just bought a 10/22 and while i bought the gun I also picked up a 25rndbuttler creek banana mag I took it home and inserted the mag to see how it fit. WELL there is a lot of movement in the mag housing and i can also remove the mag without the mag release i see a lot of issues will come of this.
does any one have any recomendations I plan on going searching tomorow I live in the edmonton area so I will be searching around the local gun shops.

That's definitely strange, does the stock 10rd rotary mag sit tightly? Are you inserting the mag with the bolt open if you don't its hard to get in properly.

If all that's fine you probably got a bad mag.

Well I have put the mag in a
quiet a few times i can grab the mag and push it forward and back a couple times and then it just pops out i put i beside the factory mag and the factory mag is about a mil longer

Sounds like a defective mag or there could be something obstructing your mag retainer. While there is "some" movement in the one I use, it is nowhere near coming out that easily.

Once you've ruled out dirt, grime and anything else that could block your mag retainer...I would take it back to the store for a new one.

Well since both items are brand new i ruling out grime the mag that comes with the rifle fits properly so must be faulty mag

Have you tried another Butler Creek mag? It anything, mine are a little tight on the sides, but certainly not too short. I would try another BC mag. It may just be a manufacturing error.

yeah i will be going to the store tomorow and finding that out hopefully bad mag. great service there so Hopefully it will be a simple replacement

well it it buttler creek banana steel lips moves to much and i can see the diference in lenth at the top of the mag i can adjust the mag forward back forward and then pop it out

If you want the mag to end all mags for your new Ruger contact Wanstalls and see if they have any Tactical Solutions mags left.

They cost about 1.5 times what the BC mag does but for that you get an all metal mag with adjustment pads that allow a solid lockup in the magwell. And even better, you can disassemble them for cleaning when needed.

I don't even have a 10/22 but I bought two for the simple reason I want to do a 10/22 project carbine sometime later this summer. These mags are simply THAT good.

i have 2 steel lips and they are great my 10/22 goes bang as fast as i can pull the trigger

well i purchased 1 more this time it was a smoked one from a different store took it home and tried it out in the mag housing fit better but if i play with it back and forth i can pop it out without the mag release once again
this time i am going to try it at the range to see how it performs before returning.
has anyone else had this same problem with the steel lips

I wish someone would make a BC style mag that would be only 20 rds and figure out a way to make the follower / block on the bottom thinner. This could cut down on the curve and length of the mag by quite a lot and still be a benefit over the stock 10 rounders.
