ive had a ruger for about 10 years now everythiing just standard and a little 3-9x busnell scope on it, ive been wondering if purchasing one of those heavy fluted barrels will tighten up the groupings and the overall accuracy performance??
thanks

yes it probably will. I recommend doing your trigger first though. You can open up your barrel channel to accept the .920" barrels and its an easy drop in. But seriously try getting your trigger down around 2-3 lbs first. It's suprising the results you get.

I have found the barrel to be more of a factor than the trigger.Just recently though,I discovered just how important the bedding and the action to stock fit can be.

Barrels are very important to accuracy.

Shilen makes some of the best rimfire barrels for competition and although more money, those that have purchased them have raved about their accuracy.

Other brands like Shooters ridge and BC also can shrink groups.

Please visit my website for options and pricing.

Thanks,

Jerry

If you want to know which rimfire barrels are winning the most competitions, have a look at the results page (they list the equipment.):

And, keep in mind that you can buy Green Mountain blanks...

On a budget, Kidd is also worth considering. They rate higher than GM over on rimfirecentral.com.

I did alot of reading before I bought my barrel for my 10/22 and Green Mountain seem to be the best in terms of accuracy and price. Rimfirecentral has countless threads about guys lovin the GM's

Cheers!!

Fired a brick+ (500) of 22's today, so much fun it was hard to stop. Last year a friend talked me into getting a bull barrel and a thumbhole stock, what a diff it made to shooting. More accurate and the stock makes it really comfortable to sit/kneel/stand and keep sending them downrange. Get the barrel and stock, you'll be glad you did.
