I'm looking at putting together a 10/22 + Butler Creek folding stock build, what's the shortest barrel I could go with to remain non-restricted?

I believe the default 18.5" carbine barrel should be fine, but I might be interested in a shorter barrel at some point down the line. Does OAL apply to stock folded or with the stock extended only?

Also, would the length of an added flash hider on a 16" barrel be included in overall length?

if im not mistaken (and if i am im sure we will hear about it right quick) the OAL is from the guns shortest form.
flash hider im not sure about but i have heard said that the shortest form has to be from non-removable parts.
so since you can just un-screw a flash hider id assume it wouldnt count in the OAL.

take for instance my DAR 10/22
with the stock on it and barrel im at 26 1/4
then my comp is 4" on top of that.
if you look at Dlask webpage he shows the OAL of a DAR on a Boyd stock with the flash hider off.

your topic of the folding stock came up a year or 2 ago.
i remember i went and measured my stock but i cant for the life of me remember the length of it.

is this the stock your talking about?
