Ruger 10/22 classic

I was loooking at one of these and note that it does not have a barrel band. What effect will this have on barrel security and bedding? Anyone have any experience with this model?

The barrel band is pretty much there for looks on the carbine anyway. Most guys take it off anyway.

Removing the barrel band (or grinding it so it doesn't make contact with the barrel) will actually help to make your rifle more accurate.

three of the cheapest and most simple mods you can do to a 10-22 carbine are having the bolt faced to 42 thou,a good crown and removing the barrel band. i have 8 10-22 rifles and have found that those simple things double the accuracy of a stock carbine.two of my 10-22s have walnut carbine stocks that have been reworked to the style of the 10-22 rifle (20 inch bbl) and they are both able to print .750 with hunting amma (cci velocitor,ww power points)

Take the ####ing barrel band away, It sucks big time. As a firearm manufacturer should know free float barrel will shot better. I don't know why Ruger has such ass design by add more barrel pressured to the stock.
