I have been researching the Ruger 10/22, looking around for prices and accessories. I have been thinking nothing but the Ruger for like 2 weeks now.

I am certain it is giving me one massive headache.

Anyone else have this problem then break down and cry?

PS: First post, and she is a bad one.

Wait till you get it then start thinking about what upgrades you want to get!!

:D

First mod: Smooth and polish the bolt and interior walls of the reciever!!!

I have already been thinking about the mods, way too many of them. Now I know how a girl feels when buying makeup :D

What I was thinking of at first was buying the basic 10/22 and then upgrading it with the Butler Creek Stock/Barrel combo. Then I priced it out and was like wowzers. I then took a gander at the 10/22 target model and that is looking very nice for the price, essentially can get that and some nice upgrades for the same price as the basic and that combo kit.

I know people are going to say ohh just buy a GM barrel and whatnot, however for right now and what I will be doing with it (plinking and small game) the 10/22T will probably be over kill.

I just finished my Ruger 10/22 build up... Took me 3 months to do, after looking around and finding out what I wanted.

I agree that it is on your mind alot, Im happy I can finally put it to bed and start doing some development with what brands work best with it. I will post some pics later tonight then link them to this thread.

just got back from the range with my 10/22 with bc stock and barrel combo,
everytime the wife emptied the mag she wined a littleLOL
I agree the 10\22 is addictive, I should have a t6 stock and quad rails sometime this week
Get lots of mags, I want enough to load a full bulk box of ammo
have fun

My inspiration: (gunasauras' 1022T)

I am just waiting till I can find a 1022T for a decent price and one that has a metal trigger assembly. Sadly no one is open on Sundays so hopefully some of my emails come back with good replies tomorrow.

Heh, I really don't plan on spending more on magazines then I spent on my rifle. One 25 round mag should be sufficient for the time being, it will be much better than loading a tube mag.

Are yo kidding? The real headache time will begin after you take the damn gun home:D

Nah, I have a very clear picture of what I want it to look like and what I am willing to spend the money on. I am finding the hardest part is finding that key ingredient for any 1022 build, the 1022 :)

I am trying to hold out for a metal trigger assembly and a decent price, however I might just cave in real soon, especially since small game season open up in a couple weeks.

I have yet to purchase, I want to do it soon. Seems impossible to find a rifle with the metal trigger assembly. I might just have to bite my metal pride and go plastic.

Aye large magazine is a must, anything beats a tubular magazine on an old bolt action rifle.

Yeah I heard nothing but good things from those Tactical Innovation magazines, I would rather spend a couple dollars more if it meant 0 feed problems.

a bigmag and a scope anything after that is elemetry :)

the less you spend doing up your gun the more you have for ammo :)

I think I am just going to give up on the metal trigger assembly, probably will just end up replacing it next year.

I just hope that bulk Federal ammo shoots good in the 10/22T cause it is decent ammo and is like 20 bucks for a box of 525. I think ammo is going to be one of the Ruger headaches, going from a tubular magazine which takes effort to shoot a brick off to a semi auto with a real magazine.

if you really want the metal trigger assembly, i would buy a used 10/22. you'll have a tough time finding a new one with the metal trigger.

but if you plan to just put in a new trigger anyways, why even bother?

i shoot the American Eagle stuff out of my 10/22 Deluxe Sporter, and it's good stuff. i get the odd jam, but i'm using a ramline magazine. Butler Creek were crap in my gun. 4 tactical innovations mags are on my list. :D

Yeah I have been reading about the BC mags and they have all been more misses than hits. I do like the fact that the TI mags are able to be disassembled, ran over by a truck (will never happen in real life) and they look cool too.

All I can say is that when you have two nights in a row with a dream about a Ruger 10/22, you have issues :D (By you I mean I)

the question with the TI mags is this:

do i cough up the 67 bucks per mag to get the aluminum ones and only get 2...or do i get the composite ones and get 4... :D i'm leaning toward the composite ones. they should be just as tough as the aluminium ones, and more mags is a good thing.
