Ruger 10/22 Magazine: Background and the Latest Update

Does anyone have suggestions for alternatives to the high capacity mags? I have one rotary 10 and one butler creek 10, but have noticed a shortage of butler creek 10 rounders for sale (I thought these were not affected buy the new rule cause they are only 10 rounds, and i like that they protrude from the base of the rifle) Input would be appreciated on what is reliable, and easy to find.

Seems simple to me... Found with a 25 round magazine in a pistol? Guilty of an infraction, in a rifle, not.

RCMP logic. Once upon a time, I imported STEYR AUG 16" barreled Bull Pup Rifles, for sale to SWAT type officers, Police that is.

Knowing the possible pitfalls! I wanted these rifles, 7 to a shipping case, well marked as semi-auto sporting riles!

Arriving at the Toronto Airport (My guns were in) I was greeted by undercover RCMP Chaps. Dressed in various clothing types. The big shinny Police shoes, were a dead give away! Hiding behind potted plants?

Suffice to say? Off to lab in Ottawa. Inspector Smith? I think that was his name.

Well anyway, I got this call on my home phone. "This is Inspector Smith of the RCMP" "I have been informed you are the person who can obtain me a Full Auto Trigger Group, for a Steys AUG 5.56 rifle?"

I told him to F.... off, and hung up. And sat by the phone for ten minutes. Ring Ring. Same chap "You are the same Mr Hargreaves, who imported these 7 rifles?" "So of course you will not get me a full auto trigger group"

"Sir" being polite now. "The average age of the unit in Hamilton Police Force, who are interested in buying the futuristic, short Bull Pup weapons, is I believe around 27 YOA, not sure."

There is no selector switch on these Bull Pups, first press, single shot, pull the trigger straight through, a quick full auto burst!" I know what happens in a violent fight. Adrenalin gives a lot of strenth to the body (The Digets!)
"I have already stated, semi-auto trigger groups only!" This is understood.

Two weeks later, call from Airport. Packed in a wooden military case. (With rope handles!) Semi-auto groups in guns! But a plastic bag, with 7 semi-auto triggers in it.

I agree that this issue is far beyond the point of needing a resolution.

A lot of people donated their hard earned money to the CSSA and other orgs to try to get things like this resolved.

Where is the return on investment? I know courts take a long time, but we're now 2+ years after the initial post here.

CSSA, please post a response to this thread with an update other than "We're working on it and you'll get an update in time", or you're going to start losing credibility.

People are okay with paying money for good causes, but not throwing it into a black hole. You accepted that money for a purpose, and people who donated deserve an answer.

Thank you Petamocto!...:)

Yes, agreed, we need and deserve answers, as well as an update on this ridiculous RCMP ruling.

Waiting with keen anticipation. Time to put on some pressure?

Not fair, but I can see the logic. If you can use a 10 round pistol mag in a semi auto rifle like a AR then a rifle mag the fits a pistol should be limited to 10 rounds. Cant have it both ways. If you make a exception one way it works the other way also. You either limit a gun buy the class of gun or the mag. Personaly I fell that the large cap mags should be legal in the rifle, but illegal in the pistol.

Personally i think there should be no magazine limits. Law abiding gun owners are the most responsible cohort in this country in my opinion.

The main issue is that the 30 round mags PRE DATE the pistol. So how can my magazine from the 80s be designed for something that didnt exist yet?

I think the CSSA should hire me. I watch CGN all day, and read it all day...even at work. I would be updating you all. They should hire me. :)

I have just personally contacted CSAAA and CSSA in regards of an update! giving the link to this thread showing all of you wanting information. I hope that they will get back with me and once they reply or if they reply.
