A while back at a gun show, I bought an 'as new' Ruger 10/22 mag fer cheep. Wouldn't feed.
I took it apart, but it wasn't dirty, cleaned by the seller and incorrectly reassembled. Didn't take long to figure out that you need to wind up the spring with the hexagonal nut at the rear of the mag, keeping it under tension as you position it into the recess at the rear of the magazine. Takes a little doing, and a third hand would be an asset.
Anybody got a sure fire method that is a little less aggravating?
A clear plastic Ruger mag I bought at the same time comes apart with an Allen key. My older black mags all need a Torx screwdriver tip. Looks like Ruger got some feed back on this and decided to make it a little easier.
