So I seen the latest sons of guns with the ruger 10/22 that thing was awesome i thought it be cool to make one myself 555 rounds rapid fire for 20 bucks hhhmmmmm sounds good so. I have been looking around for options and price ranges and like the title says i was looking at the 597
does anyone know if these are able to be customized like the ruger or any other type of rimfire for that matter (yes I know I cant get the bullpup,BOOOOO!!)

not sure if i will yet all depends on what i like in stocks i definitely want unique if i do, optics definitely larger mags

This is my 10/22, I got it just to use with this kit. I had a 597 before and sold it, but kinda regret it; it was a fun accurate gun 30 round mags are great. The fact they are cheap is a huge bonus, I'd like to pick up another one with OD stock.

IM Lugger,

How do you find the Promag mags to run? Ive been tossing around the idea of getting a plain 10/22 and the Nomad stock as well or going for the SR22. Looks really cool in that set up

Cheers

If you're talking about the bullpup stock episode, it is a prohibited device in Canada. So sad. :(

But that Thompson look-alike kit gives me a real reason to get a 10/22.

It does jam with promag mag, but it's not the latest version. I'll need to get a updated mag 'lip' for it. I have other hi capacity 10/22 mags that run well.

I have been looking into it, and I am going to pick up a 10/22, I havent heard much bad about the 597, I just like how much aftermarket there is on the ruger. I also do plan to pick up a 597 for the wife if i can find a pink one, so I will shoot both, and see whick i like better.

+1 for the 10/22, there's a reason the disappear from the EE section quicker than a guy
Can send a message to the seller.

I own two, one stock (for now) one highly customized. And yes I spent a lot of money into it, but I can say with confidence it would put any 597 to shame, both in looks AND accuracy! You would never regret buying a great product as the 10/22 is!

Thanks guys, I came upon a 10/22 last weekend last one so i nabbed it quick this weekend i bought a tapco intrufuse trainer stock for it and a scope this weekend just got it installed looks sweet

No offense, whatsoever, TargetGuy.. but when you say things like *bolded quote above*, how is that convincing that 10/22 is any better than 597? it sounds like you gotta put money into it to make it better than 597 stock.

i have no stake in this matter as i don't plan on buying 597 or 10/22... but i found a local canadian tire that had 20+ 10/22's in stock... (Calgary Mcleod Tr. and southland Dr.) when i went to pick up a spare mag for my Savage 64. :D

This is true. I understand that as of right now Ruger is behind on shipping firearms to Canada but they are everywhere. My little local shop I like to frequent has a whole stash of everything from basics to even a few take downs.

I got a 10/22 in 1980. I still have it. I can shoot a 555 box of bulk Winchester without a fail. I bought a 597 in 2010 and sold it 3 months later. I couldn't put 8 rounds down the pipe without a FTE, FTF or FTL. I thought maybe it was a lemon but my buddy had the same problem with the same gun. IMHO the 597 is a POS!!!

Many CGN'r will argue that the 597 is more accurate out of the box. I say Big F'n sh1t!! If it jams, what do I care how accurate it might be on the round that actually works. It's cheap for a reason...

I got a 10/22 when i was 14 years old,1985 it was second hand from a neighbor who shot the beans out of it as well... since then have pounded a bazzillion rounds a year through it, zero issues, very accurate for stock gun, it has took s**t and abuse like only a truck pounded ranch gun sees. I have refinished the stock 1/2 dozen times, wore the paint right off it in most places, still shoots consistantly. I feed it good ammo, i stay clear of value packed rounds, cause i think in my opinion they are half as good as individually packed stuff, finally last year started to notice slight accuracy issues, proabaly because there was hardly any rifling left in the thing for the first half of the barrel, rebarrelled it, right back to its old minute of gopher/varmint self. I would never get rid of it. +1 for the ruger.
