Allright, recently I got a NIB stainless 10/22 and, despite the fact that I haven't even shot it yet, I started upgrading the stock components. Here's what I'm planning on doing or have done already, but I'm looking for suggestions on what else to do.

DONE:
Bolt buffer ($6)
Extended mag release ($10)
Auto bolt release (DIY)

TO DO:
Volquartsen target hammer ($34)
Volquartsen exact edge extractor ($11)
Power Custom heavy firing pin ($28)
SSS Operating Spring ($11)

I found this place to have a really complete inventory of parts for the 10/22. They're in the US, but all prices include free shipping to Kanukistan!

Please let me know if you can think of any other cheap & easy to do upgrades. I'm not looking to have a 'target' rifle here... just a really nice & reliable plinker for the range or possibly the SHTF scenario! :p

P.S. I'm not gonna upgrade to a target barrel, as I want to use iron sights on my current 10/22 and I haven't seen any target barrel with sights yet.

Other then a new extractor (and plenty of spare magazines), I'd wait for the other stuff untill you send some rounds down range and see how you like it.

If you plan on shooting "standard" velocity ammo, you might want to get some action springs to play with and/or chamfer the bolt.

And since you're in Montreal, you might want to give a call to Fabrice (fabsports ca)... and got plenty of 10/22 accessories in stock... no exchange rates, no waiting!

Are you a member at CRAFM?

You can get a target barrel redone with a dovetail cut into it so you can use iron sights.

However, just get the extractor probably will save you some head aches in the long run. Shoot a brick and then polish the internals should help the trigger pull a great deal. Shoot another brick and then decide what you want from there.

Hmm.. some good advices there guys. So, the extractor will be put on my priority list... I plan on shooting standard ammo the most, but I also bought a brick of Stingers that I wanna test with. The lighter trigger pull would be nice too, so the target hammer will most likely make it's way on the list as well.

The shooting club I belong to is CTVSP, not CRAFM... I considered CRAFM because I have plenty of BIG rifles to shoot as well, but budget was tight this year. :p

Stingers will work fine in a stock 10/22... They are pretty accurate and have done no damage to any of the 10/22 builds Ive done. I seem to have more luck with Winchester Wildcats and Eley Target Rifle ammo anyways.

You don't wanna use them in any aftermarket barrels that are match grade. The Stinger rounds are actually to big and could damage the rifle....

Extractor is a must, and if you put a bull barrel on it, I would recommend a modified V-Block just to have the extra support...

You can also just try the home trigger job (polish everything contacting) I think it is in the stickies. I liked it a lot on one of my builds.

I have used hawktecharms and rimfiresports for parts, both have online cart and free shipping.
