Ruger 10/22 Question

Heh. After searching '10/22 mods' on google I now plan to do modding. It just seems like you can get such a sense of satisfaction knowing that you've made your rifle better. Is the extractor as bad as they say?

I have put threw half a dozen bricks of CCI Stingers and Velociters and can not recall a single problem. Most of my shooting was done from the prone on small hills in pastures in SK so it was far from clean range conditions, I miss late May and June on the prairies. I did have a plastic lipped Butler Creek 25 round mag that was giving me grief so I gave it to my nephew .

I am pretty confident that there will always be at least one 10/22 in my safe

The gun I have would extract some brands very well not missing a beat and other brands not as well. I put in a Volquartsen extractor and it has not missed a beat. I did put in another after market extractor and it was as bad or worst than the factory, would not extract other brands.

I plan on buying a few hundred rounds of every brand of .22 in the store to see which works best anyway.
