I'm about to purchase a Ruger 10/22 but there are so many variations of this rifle I'm not sure which one to pick. I'm going to put an aftermarket stock on it, probably the ProMag Archangel AR556 one. Having said that, does it matter which 10/22 model I get? Is the only thing different between each variation in the stock only or are other things different like the trigger, barrel, etc. Because if it's just the stock that varies only then I'll buy the cheapest model available since it'll be swapped out anyway. Or is there something more besides the stock to the expensive 10/22 models?

The stock is the main difference... barrels vary a bit but only between the standard and target models ones factory/sporter Taper, the other... a heavy bull barrel... i guess the compact model has a 16 inch barrel but any standard model should be just fine to dress up.
