WTB Ruger 10/22 Stainless Receiver....I contact some US dealers, but no one want to ship to Canada ! Any Canadian source to suggest ? Thanks !

Is the receiver on the stainless 10/22 even stainless? I thought only the barrel was stainless and the rest was coated aluminium or something?

The "stainless" receiver is painted aluminum, as is the "blued" model.

Here is my receiver, stripped of it's black paint, then buffed.

Ninezorz, could you possibly explain in greater detail exactly how the paint comes off? You said before you used oil...but I don't see how that would take paint off.

As for the buffing, is sandpaper fine as long as I sand in one direction (back and forth)?

Failure to answer these questions will result in your doom.

There are some makers of "Stainless" actions out there even some with threaded barrels, but they are not cheap. I've NEVER seen one for sale in Canada, and getting one from the US would involve breaking a bunch of laws. Not to mention it is the serialized part of the gun and thus needs registering!!

Well... if you were really wanting a STEEL receiver or swanky aluminum one, you could have it imported by Questar but you are tacking about $220 onto the price. Is it worth it? Well... how much do you want it? :D

And thats the butler creek kit with the CF barrel? Cause I'm gonna copy yours ;)

What's the advantage of buying the butler creek synthetic stock? Why would it be any different than the synthetic that comes with the regular gun?
Nine, how do you like that Bushnell red dot? I'm looking for something that would give me accurate shooting, and easy to aim...while still being lightweight.

Basically, the gun I want would be kinda like yours, except with a really lightweight barrel...again...I'm making a girls gun first, a guys gun second.

The gun weighs about 5lbs with red dot and loaded with factory mag. It's .920" diameter would not fit in the standard stock.

Butler creek makes a sporter version of their "Carbon Fiber" (actually a polymer) that comes with fire sights. 16" long, would fit in the factory synthetic stock and would be even lighter. Also, you may have some people attempt to sway you away from these butler creek barrels, but I'll tell you from 7 years experience with this set up, I'd do it all over again. Thousands and thousands of rounds down range.
