Has any one had issues with the Ruger 10/22 scope rail, other than stripping it? Or have you had any problems with scope rings on it?

I am still having a weird problem with mine where it loves to shoot to the right or never where I want it it. I have tried sighting in my scope several times and tried two different sets of rings, still no go. It is not the rifle cause I can aim right down the barrel and it is bang on.

Is the rail a true dovetail/tipoff or not cause I have tried two sets of dove tail and both don't want to comply.

Scope: Bushnell .22 Rimfire 4x
Rifle: Ruger 10/22T

Hmmm, I was debating to wether or not it was the rail or the rings. My old rings would move up and to the right when tightened so I got one news and they were not excellent too. I did manage to get it somewhat shooting proper but it would still shoot a wee high and to the right.

Going to try weaver rail mounts this time and hope they work.

Did you manage to fix yours or you still have it shooting off?

Any one have any ideas?

I got new weaver rail mounts and had it bore sighted, it will still shoot low and to the right. At 75 yards it is 2 inches low and 1 to the right with everything maxed. However it was shooting 1 inch groups with cheap bulk ammo.

Do I need a new rail?

I hate the stock scope rail on my 10/22....I took it on a gopher shoot and every clip it came loose. I would try to tighten it in the field and all I did was scratch my scope with a swiss army knife:mad:...but i did find that there is a rail offered for weaver rings..if you were to throw that rail on with locktite it would probably be a solid platform. I also found that volquorsteen as a rail that extends to the barrel and attaches there as well.

i had no issues with my ruger base, used locktite the first time and it holds zero beautyfully.

so your saying that after bore sighting it, then maxing out the windage and elevation on the scope it shoots 2" right/1" low?

Yeah I had it bore sighted. When taking it out it would shoot 2 inches low and 1 to the right. The rail is still on tight, there is no wiggle or play when I try moving the scope. I am now on my 3rd pair of rings and still no go.

Will this solve my problems? Cause It will be hard to peg off a partridges head with a scope that doesn't want to shoot.

I know for sure it is not barrel droop cause I can aim down the barrel and she will go straight and true. I tried three different scope mounts and know that isn't the problem. I wouldn't mind spending a couple more bucks to get it shooting right but this thing Ruger is getting more and more expensive every day.

I haven't had any problems with my Ruger 10/22 scope rail. That being said I hated the crappy Weaver rings and I'll be putting on a 30mm scope. I wanted Leupold or something good. So.... I bought a Leupold STD Ruger 10/22 single piece base (product # 51723). I'll be using this and mounting my scope with some good rings. I also bought this because I've heard of others having issues with the standard scope rail. The total cost was $32. The only issue is that there are only 3 screw holes. But I don't think this will really be a problem.

Anyways just a possible sollution if you don't like the regular scope rail on the 10/22.

I don't mind the regular scope rail, it is just that I cannot get my scope to shoot straight. Thing worked flawlessly on a Cooey 600 bolt .22 but on my Ruger it just is crap.

I used a straight edge on the receiver to see if there was any humps or anything and it was all straight. Scope rings are secure as with the scope. The scope only sits about a centimeter off the barrel so the rings are not too high. Barrel is snug and will shoot straight when aimed off the side of the barrel. So the only thing it could be is the rail however I am just not 100% sure on it.

If someone said with a great deal of certainty that my rail was the issue I would pop down the money and fix it. Other than a couple extraction issues which I can tolerate for the time being, the lack of the scope is just killing me.

A rail is $10 so I would try that, use blue loctite on the screws and wipe the inside of the reciever when your done. Use weaver rings not the narrow dovetail ones and it should work fine.

I could buy one then if I still have the problem then I have two scopes. I also think I should drill and tap the holes to accept the bigger screws. Some of the screws (rear two) don't tighten full. However I cannot get any play out of the scope when I wiggle it.

I wish I had another scope to try and see if it is my scope that is the issue. I think that the reticle might be stuck if that is possible.

EDIT: Man that gun is really pissing me off. I don't know what the guy did but the rear scope mounts are like seized on and I busted two screw drivers on it. This thing is putting me at the end of my rope.

Likely red loctite, give it a shot of heat and I'll bet they come right off

Should I buy another scope from Crappy Tire to try out on my rifle and see if that helps, then just return it. Or should I just see what the local gun shop has for Ruger rails.

I will probably have to retap the holes for a bigger screw since most of the thread is gone. Soft aluminum + tiny threads and I am amazed everyones isn't messed up.

Brought the gun back to the gun shop and they almost broke their screw driver trying to undo the screws too. They rotated the rings so they tighten on the right now, which brought a lot more windage back into play. They also shimmed the rings to bring the elevation up and now I got more play there too. So that hopefully will work if not I am going to sell it :p
