Ruger 10\22 scope vs red dot question.

Neither is perfect , I prefer the red dot over the scope. My next will be a 1x6 , hopefully the best of both worlds:) vortex is coming out with a new 1x6 soon.
 
I just put a red dot on my 10/22. Have not managed to try it yet, tomorrow if it does not snow............... cold here today. I think it will be just fine for a semi auto, close range gophers or for grouse shooting in the bush. Thinking it will be good to 75 yards maybe. After that it's scoped HMR time anyway. I have a scope for the gun in the case, that I can slide on to the rail if I feel like switching. (don't mind having to sight in a .22)
 
Sorry I meant to post what I was using as a scope, when it gets here, 2.5-10x40 Tactical Rifle Scope Red Laser Dual illuminated Mil-dot w/ Rail Mount I'd be interested in what vortex comes out with though... Like their stuff. Oh and I went with the Promag 9-22 mag with Sleeve for Ruger 10/22, but I got it off amazon for 26.99... I was reading another post that was saying that these were restricted now??? I hope not as they seem to be the best match for that stock.

I'll let you all know how that scope/red dot is when I get it.

My ruger came with a tr25 red dot. It was great at the time but then I thought I would switch it up and put a .22 bushnell 3x9x32 scope, that i got for 45 dollars. I must say, it was super fun to hit clays at 50,75 and 105 yards away! My buddy has a bolt action savage and he hit a clay first shot at 207 yards with his 2x7x44 vortex! It was the high light of the morning! I think it comes down to what you really want to do with the rifle!
 
First day with my Bushnell TRS-25. Worked really good. I got a few gophers out to 50-70 yards, it gets a bit tough to find them in the grass after that, and the standers have part of the dot on either side of the creature. I did notice the follow up shots are easier/faster as you can see below the dot during muzzle rise. ( better than an iron sight that covers the target )
 
Well I'm pissed at amazon, my order came today but minus the sleeve .... I talked to someone there and they said they would have to have me return the stuff and them reorder it again and they would ship it out to me as soon as they had stock... So stupid. Crazy you'll have to let me know if you run into the same issue, sorry about it if you do stupid warehouse people.

My order came in, same thing. I am returning mine today. I suspect they are just using a stock photo with a magazine and sleeve, but only sell the magazine.
