Hi all,

I'm thinking to get a decent .22 for backpacking.
The perfect scenario for me is being able to drop it into backpack, get on my motorcycle, etc...
So I look at Ruger offerings like 10/22 Takedown.
The 31152 and 21182 look like way to go: stainless steel, quick assembly, extra mags, etc. I also like the idea of rust resistant firearm. I tend to go hunting in nasty places sometime, rainy weather, etc.
But what is the difference between these two?
.
Also, it is quite pricey, i.e. the lowest I found was $759. Do you think this rifle is worth its price?
Or are there any better alternatives
or similar quality for less $$$ ?
.
Thanks.

Colour of the stock the only difference.

As for worth it that’s up to you. I have the exact same rifle 21882. I’m very happy with it and enjoy its compact nature and ultra light weight. Fun rifle I find to shoot off hand and pretty much weather proof. I have a Simmons 4x32 scope on it and it fits nicely in a back pack. Once I tightened barrel adjuster to be tight, it shoots pretty well about .5” at 25 yards. And the one time I have put a 9x scope on it and gave it a go at 100 yards and managed 1.5”-2” groups with CCI Blazer.

I like to keep it compact as this is my go to the range via motorcycle rifle. Also bring this one out to crown land on my off roading trips.

It’s not a target grade long range rifle but does well enuff for my wants. And I really enjoy shooting it off hand and do soo often as it’s so light. I did swap in a BX did the auto bolt release mod and swapped in an extended mag release. Really is in my opinion the perfect take down rifle now.

I picked up the grey Magpull/Stainless over xmas and mounted a compact UTG bug-buster scope on it.
My plan for this gun was heading off into the bush on my xr650 dual sport motorcycle and searching for grouse and wabbits.
It's been out to the range 3 times and shoots nicely. No complaints. Holds zero well for a take down.
Managed to have some 1- 1.5" groups 50 yards rapid fire, all 10 shots. Which is plenty good considering its a semi-auto take down.

I have kept it stock for now but might upgrade the trigger at some point and do the auto bolt release mod.

Good.
I've just pulled trigger, ordered a 31152.
Thinking of which scope to put on it. Let me look at that UTG bug-buster.
Btw, curios, how much did you pay for your takedown if I can ask?

p.s. selling my fz09 '2017 and thinking to buy a Husky 701 or T7 ))

Ooh, let me know what you think of that UTG...

Not sure if I'll go that route or with a barrel mounted red dot.

(Also thinking of swapping out a high powered Italian sportbike for a KTM 640 or kitted 690, your "ps" caught my eye)

Hi,
sorry for late feedback. I bough "Hawke Vantage 2-7X32 AO MIL DOT IR (14211) (HWK-SC-072)" at about $250 as a scope for my Takedown.
It works pretty good. It lets you adjust/remove parallax at any distance.

So far, the only little complain about this rilfe,
I wish there was a sling stood on this forend which would help to mount a bipod to take those longer shots. Otherwise it makes kinda tricky when you zero in using a pillow, etc. Then when need to take 50+ yds shot and doing so off-hands or from bent elbow when sitting down - this gives slightly different result. Perfect scenario would be to zero it using bipod then also shoot it same way.
So at the end I look at something like this stock
https://adaptivetactical.com/en-ca/products/rm4-ruger-10-22-td-rifle-stock
- which is compact and adjustable LOP while also having a stood.

As for the bike, I've sold my fz09 three days ago. it was not a quick sale. It will go to Africa to make someone very happy ;)
Going to check a "Husky 701 Enduro" very soon.
Did you swap your sportbike so far? Curious, what did you get? :)

I have my buying pants on and my eyes on a Ruger 10/22 takedown.

Buddy of mine has a 10/22 takedown with a suppressed barrel (protecting ones hearing is legal where he resides), and obviously using BX-25 magazines as those are also legal. Pretty much silent when shooting CCI Mini-Mags. That would be pretty awesome setup.

Aren't these BX-25 mags pinned to 10rnds to make them legal in Canada?
If that's the case I'd rather buy the OEM rotary mags @ 3-pack for $70. Nice and flush and they fit in the Magpul X-22 Backpacker stock......

BX-25 magazines are pinned to make them legal in Canada...the "banana mag" is just for the looks. The "buddy example" is not in Canada, and larger mags and suppressors are legal there.

The BX-10 magazines work really well in my opinion.

The only legal 25rnd (unpinned) mag for the "10/22" that I'm aware of is the HC3R mag. But I could be wrong......ask my wife (how often)

I received one with my TUF-22 takedown/Magpul X-22 Backpacker stock. The HC3R is interesting because it has 25rnds ready to go and another 20rnds stored via stripper clip (on the mag).
This allows my "10/22" to carry 45rnds on the HC3R and another 30rnds in 3 rotary mags stored in the stock of the rifle for a total of 75rnds. Or I can swap 2 of the rotary mags for a box of 50 and have 105rnds on board.

It's my understanding that these HC3R 25mags will only work properly in the TUF-22 receiver. I remember a buddy of mine buying a HC3R for his 10/22 a few years ago but returned it because he couldn't get it to work.......

I think an issue with the Ruger 10/22 if you want to mount a scope is getting one that will still fit in the soft case when the rifle is taken down. The Bug Buster is a compact scope and will fit when the rifle is taken down in the soft case. I have a Leupold FX-1 rimfire which is 9.2 inches long on my 10/22.

Hi fellows,
does anyone have experience with "Tac-Hammer® RM4 Takedown Rifle Stock for Ruger® 10/22 Takedown" ?
Pls check the link below
https://adaptivetactical.com/en-ca/products/rm4-ruger-10-22-td-rifle-stock
...I would like to have one. But I saw a review like: "I have the 10/22 Takedown model. It is a new version and this system would not work with it"
Btw, there is also one of reviews saying "Great stock for my sons TD. The factory stock and the Magpul X-22 Backpacker I bought didn't fit him. Now he has a stock he can grow with."

For reference, my 10/22 is "Ruger 10/22 Magpul Takedown Gray .22LR 16.4" Barrel", model #31152
https://ruger.com/products/1022Takedown/specSheets/31152.html

I was trying to reach the "Adaptive tactical" via their online chat about that RM4 stock. But it looks like I might have better luck if attempting to talk to my parrot. ...No answer.
Meanwhile, this seem to be the only option of such a kind having adjustable LOP 10.25" to 14.75" which makes the stock piece -2.75" shorter than the original one is, when in its shortest LOP adjustment. And a sling stood on the forend - is very desired feature for me.

Also, if you know any other similar aftermarket stock options for this rifle - please let me know.

UPDATE: finally, just received an answer from "Adaptive tactical":
Our Tac-Hammer RM4 Takedown Stock will work fabulously if you have a standard tapered barrel. If you happen to have a Bull Barrel, then the RM4 Takedown Stock will not be compatible, but our TK22 Stock will work great!

QUESTION: could someone please explain how to tell tapered barrel from bull barrel?
Thanks!
