Ruger 10-22 Takedown

Mine also has the crooked rear sight but I already installed tech sights on mine. It still makes me made that I pay good money for a new product with faults but then American workmanship is sliding fast.

I was thinking of getting one of these, but with the crappy workmanship, QC, and customer service, I don't think I'll bother. The Japanese Browning 22-SA is a joy to look at as well as a joy to shoot.

And these slobs wonder why their manufacturing is disappearing?Laugh2

It's obvious that these rifles get ZERO inspection after assembly, or that a deliberate choice was made to ship grossly defective product anyway,or else that the inspection is done by idiots. Perhaps all three?!

What a schmozzle.

I have been holding off sending my 10/22TD to Snapshots to have the sight issue dealt with so I could use the gun over the summer. I have noticed lately that it is very hard to take apart after shooting and I have now discovered the cause of this issue. The chamber end of the barrel is being peened over by the action of the bolt striking it. You can see in these pictures what is happening. The chamber end of the barrel is now has a larger OD and the amount of wear is evident. This gun has fired maybe 500 rounds. I was at the range today and shot about 50 rounds out of it and I could not get the barrel out for the life of me. I had to take the gun home out of the case and get help pulling to 2 halves apart. I'm not a happy camper as you can imagine. I guess I may as well send the gun to Quebec now because it's useless like this.

crap...if this is a design flaw that will really suck. You would think they could catch this in testing.

Well there's one less gun on my want list. Thanks for posting that, you just saved me $400 bux. Sorry it had to happen to you though.

Great photos Johnnyc14, thanks.

You could get a 45 degree bevel put on the back corner of the barrel, but that would only be a temporary fix.

Makes me wonder if having the bolt slam into the end of the barrel was a designed feature or just bad QC again?

:HR:

Mine has about the same number of rounds - no peening.

The back of my bbl is discoloured and looks like it was heat treated after being turned down.

I wonder if that one missed heat treat?

Let us know what warranty service is like.

Good luck.
