Ruger 10/22 target version extraction issues

I have been recently trying out the target version of the 10/22.
I have found this rifle to be very picky with its choice of ammo. It will only cycle lapua and CCI mini mags. Becomes a "jam O matic" with most of everything else. Will not shoot anything from federal, HV winchester, CCI standard velocity, CCI blazer is not too bad. Could it just be an extractor issue and needs replacement ?? I have taken it down and cleaned it good but made no difference.
 
Are you using the factory mags? If not then I'd recommend going to them. I find them to be the most reliable.

If so then yes clean it out, especially around the chamber and extractor. I use G96 on mine, and then FP10 on the rails. If that doesn't work you may have to change up some parts.
 
My 10/22T shot well from new but did suffer from the occasional FTE. I did what I have always done with 10/22s, I fitted a Volquartsen extractor and the problem was solved. Minimal cost and a quick fix.
