What style bases and rings have you guys used for mounting a Leupold VX1 2-7x28mm Rimfire scope on your Ruger 10/22? I know Leupold has a standard base for the 10/22, but from what I have read some people have reported that the base mounts to far forward making it very difficult to get the proper eye relief when used with the Leupold VX1 2-7x28mm Rimfire scope. So I'm unsure about using that base with the Leupold STD rings. My other option would be using weaver style base and rings. I will be mounting the scope as low as possible.

Edit - Also was unsure whether to post this thread in the rimfire/or scope section. I hope this is fine.

I've used both and have been happy with either.

I did use leupold high rise rings in order to use my iron sites as back up but could never get the scope adjusted low enough. Unless I'm missing something I wouldn't recommend them.

Check out the sticky 10/22 tips and tricks.

i would recommend the dnz dead nutz one piece base/rings or the factory weaver style base with rings of your choice. I really like the look and feel of millet angle loc rings on my 10/22's. I also have one with the leupold rings and bases which I also really like.

DNZ are hella nice.
im gonna order one here next month for 2 of my guns to give them a try.
my dad runs them on 3 of his guns and from what ive seen so far they are super nice and really sturdy.
i hadnt thought of putting one on my 10/22 as ive never found them to buck much - more of a 308, mini 14, AR kinda thing but im gonna order a 10/22 one now that youve got me thinking about it to try it out.

I'm using the standard Leupold weaver style base and Burris Zee low rings on my 10/22 Takedown with the exact same scope as you. With the Takedown model, I tried to mount the scope as far back as possible so the back half of the gun fits the Ruger bag while scope is still mounted. Works well for me and eye relief isn't a problem.

I can snap a picture if you want to see what it looks like..

i must have fat cheeks because ive noticed over the last 2 years that im slowly swapping out all my low rings for medium and high rings on all my guns.
specially if my gun has a riser on it like most Boyd stocks.

Hope that helps. I think you could go slightly lower with the crappy Weaver Top Mount rings, but they'll scratch your scope trying to put them on and I just don't like the design. Another good choice for rings would be the Leupold Rifleman low rings. I couldn't find any in the local shops, and I think my Burris Zee rings are just as low and they are steel, so more durable.
