I have a new 10/22 and went shooting the other day with a box of Winchester 333 bulk ammo. No feeding or extracting issues at all through the whole box but I did notice that every so often a round would sound and feel a little light when it went off compared to the rest. With ear plugs in it sounded more like an pellet gun. Is it more likely the ammo is inconsistent? Or how the firing pin is hitting the rim?

I'm not sure. I've read a number of people say they don't like Winchester bulk .22LR ammo. My fiend and I just got our 10/22s and a box of 555. Shot it all on Saturday. 1 or 2 FTF and 1 or 2 stovepipes. I'd say not bad for 555 out of two brand new guns. My friend didn't even clean his other than running a patch down the barrel.

My 10/22 with a Green Mountain barrel seems to really like the Winchester 333/555. Gives CCI Standard Velocity 1070 a run for its money at 50m. It tends to open up though by 100m.

My experience with the 333/555 has been quite good from a reliable feeding / extracting perspective. I do get the occasional dud and do get a few flyers though. My ruger likes it a little better than the American Eagle stuff and much better than the Federal bulk ammo.

I like the 333 for 22 pistols but its overpriced now (3yrs ago was $6 a box )

I buy federal American eagle for the same price now (sometimes less)

Where are you guys finding Winchester 333?

In Langley here I've only been able to find it at Walmart. It's around $21.97 for the 555 and $14.47 for the 333 (if I remember correctly). Price recently went up.

Now that I've finished my ammo testing though, I'll stick with the CCI Standard Velocity. Much more consistent at 100m.

Next up, need sub-zero temps to test hypervelocity ammo! :D

The Winchester Dynapoint ammo is actually pretty good in my 10/22 for accuracy. The 333 just goes bang every time but it's pretty bad for hitting things.

out of all the bulk ammo ive tried, both my 10/22's like winchester dynapoint gt the best! it functions great, and is the most accurate!

I've had the same experience. Both my Savage MkII and my 10/22 like it. Like almost any .22 ammo, I get the odd failure to fire (usually, from no priming compound), but by and large, I've gad good success with DynaPoint. In fact, based on my experience with the previous box, I just bought another 1100 rounds of it...

Walmart and Canadian Tire sell the 333 pack here. I dont remember the price. I did find the Winchester bulk ammo to be very clean. I figured after all that firing the bore would be really dirty but it wasnt at all. None of them failed, just inconsistent velocity, and even with those it still ejected and cycled just fine. Would an inconsistent firing pin strike cause that? or does it either go off or it doesnt?

exactly my findings..... as a matter of fact, with the winchester 333/xpert HV, my groups at 50 yards are about 2.5" with the odd flyer WAYY out, and with the dynapoint, i get 1" groups on average, some tighter, and some with the odd flyer. all in all, the dynapoint is hands down the most accurate though.

one thing im not clear on with it though, is some places have the black boxes with "DynaPoint GT" on them, and some places have the white boxes with just "DynaPoint". They look the same, and seem the same. I was wondering if there is any difference besides the name?

ginnz.

PS. im finding these findings interesting. That other guys are piping up and saying that the dynapoint is working well for them. Lately ive seen so much hype on Blazers and bulk Federal as working well.... and my testing show's this stuff to group HORRIBLE for me. so bad as i wouldnt even gopher hunt with them. I doubt it would be capable of doing a head shot at 30 yards....

My new to me 10/22 seems to like Blazer 40 gr solids more than the Winchester's.
I did try some wildcats that I have and they shot really good as well but can't find them at any store.
Has anyone tried the M22's from Winchester?
