Ruger 10 22

How accurate are the Rugers without mods. Is there any differance in the three models for accuracy; carbine, compact, deluxe. Just looking for a gun to have some fun with and use for small game.

Accuracy is about minute-o-rabbit at 50 paces. Or to put it another way -- if you wanna punch out tiny little groups at the range, an un-modified 10/22 is probably not for you! However, if you just wanna blast pop cans and small critters, they git er dun nicely. (and, for about an extra $200, you can get the barrel replaced and the trigger fixed, which will usually make a pretty decent shooter out of one).

Accuracy is one thing ; simple, reliable (and therefore pleasant) function yet another....

Some mods are just plain worth it - total cost under $50 shipped for sure.

I bought an un-modified 10/22 on the EE and took it out yesterday to make sure it works and I was very surprised how accurate it was with just the iron sights ... was shooting at a an object not thicker than a broom stick and hitting it one shot after another from 25 meters in a standing position.

What ammo you use makes a significant impact on accuracy as well....
