What's the general consensus of this .22 rifle for plinking?

I am interested in purchasing a black synthetic stock with a stainless barrel but have never seen one in person. I'm not looking for a fancy gun, something cheap, reliable, and good looking (I might add an equally inexpensive scope later).

If any of you can chime in on your own experience, or if you know of a dealer selling one in the GTA, I would be very thankful!

I am open to other .22 plinking suggestions, but I have a strong preference for the black stock and stainless barrel so keep that in mind.

Something like this...

Buy it.
They are lots of fun and you can modify it the way you want.So many aftermarket stuff for them.If you just want to keep it stock thats fine too_One mod you should do reguardless is switch out the ejector with a Volquartsen exact adge extractor. They are like 14 bucks. Also buy the Buttler creek steel lips mags.IMHO they are the best mags out there.
Enjoy:)

Definately go with the Butler Creek STEEL LIPS... dont try and be cheap and get the plastic lip ones they are jam-o-matics

Well the reliability and fun factor reviews are all positive, that makes me feel like it's a good choice!

How is the fit and finish? What about the ergonomics since I haven't held one before.

Price at Cabelas in Canada is $299 online, is there anywhere cheaper?

New ones are said to have a more plastic-like feel to them. The receivers are painted, not bare aluminum like they may appear online. Basically, the cheap ones feel cheap. The nice ones, limited editions for example, have great fit and finish and better overall materials.

10/22's are great.

If you are looking at a stainless one, there are 2 different barells. One is shiney stainless, the other is painted grey. I would try to get the bare shiney stainless barrel gun. The newest ones have a black receiver.

i really like my setup it's a 10/22 the real stainless barrel with BC folding stock in stainless with a reddot scope with a VQ hammer and 2 25 round BC mag's & speed loader ,if you like plinking you should try this one .

10/22 target tactical is the way to go if you ast me! For 500 bucks you get a hammer forged bull barrel, and a hogue stock! It also comes with the rail, and bipod. If you were gonna buy the stick 10/22 and start modifying it anyways this is a cheaper, and easier alternative! Mine has been absolutely reliable, and very accurate as well! It takes a few shots to get the barrel warm but after the first 5 shots it groups in small ragged holes at 50m!

The 10/22 Stainless was the first rifle I ever bought and I have no plans to ever sell it. I picked it up for $299 around 4 years ago so if you can find it for that price now, I think that's a pretty good deal. New ones should have an extended magazine release, too, which saves you from having to buy/make one.

defiantly worth it. you can find them online for under $300 with free shipping.

plus with all the different parts and mods available for them...you cant go wrong

guilty

Wham-O, I second that guilty thing, but I wish it was just 2,3 or 4, not the ahem---14. Way too many things that can be done, after a while you need a big safe just for your 10/22's. Sad really, but cool nevertheless. Buy one or two an don't look back. Later.
