Ruger 10-22T worth it?

I was looking at the Ruger 10-22RB vs the Ruger 10-22T. The "T" model has the heavy barrel.

I know the heavier barrel is supposed to be more accurate, but the main issue is that it cost almost twice as much. The RB is about 279 and the T is about 500.

I bought a 10/22T this was pre crap finishing on the barrel but post plastic trigger group.

It was okay but not very accurate. I then polished it and change it to a metal trigger group, it felt better to shoot after that but my 25yard groups blew. I then free floated the barrel and my groups improved vastly.

I found the ones with the 20" heavy barrel and adjustable cheekpiece synthetic stock weigh a ton. Too much for walking around. Now, laminate thumbhole stock with a shorter green mountain barrel is noticeably lighter, so that's what I prefer. You will get similar accuracy out of either one, which is excellent.

I have the laminate T. I like it, but it is heavy. I'd like something lighter for walking, but the Heavy barrel is great for static shooting. Put a hi cap mag in and it's an awkward beast to carry.

Ruger 10/22T

If your intent is to have a rifle for "walking around", why buy the target model when there are so many other models available? I have one for small bore silhouette competition and find it's accuracy more than adequate....
Perhaps if you were shooting some sort of bench rest small bore competition, another (read: more expensive) rifle might be better, but dollar for dollar the 10/22T is just fine in my books...
