Hey guys. I was originally planning on modding my 10/22. I have done alot of work to the trigger and such but it is still standard barrel and stock. I want something a bit more accurate. For the money it seems that I should just go and buy a 10/22T and fiddle with its trigger.
Does anyone have one or have any expierience with them? Should I go for the 10/22T or should I save up and do all the mods to mine. It looks to be quite a bit more expensive to buy a aftermarket barrel and stock than just buying the Target model?
Any help guys?
Thanks!

10.22t?

I bought one and it was pretty accurate right out of the box. The trigger was the first thing I got done and found with the right ammo I can easly shoot 1MOA with it at 100 yards. Right now it likes to eat the Remington T22 ammo. (target round). I then added other things like a new stock, and Volquarsten mag and bolt release. This came much later.

You know it's just 10.22 shooters nature to build up our rifles no matter what trim level we get. So my suggestion to you is build up your existing rifle to what you want. It's very satisfying and save yourself the money of buying an 'accurized' factory model. Good luck and enjoy!

A new barrel and repalcement stock would be definately cheaper than buying a 1022 T version in my opinion....you can get several aftermarket barrels shipped here from various US suppliers be it a Clerke or GM or A&B...will run around $100 to $150 CAD depending on what ya want....you can order a VIP stock from Boyds Gunstocks in the US for around $100 CAD give or take a bit to your door...all it needs is a little fine sanding and then whatever choice of topcoat you would prefer....for slightly more than half the price of a Target model, you can jazz yours up quite nicely...jut my .02

Add another 50$ or so for a VQ hammer the "t" version's trigger is passable whereas the regular carbine is not.

If you want tinker go the build up route if you don't buy the T,

Stock blue carbine 249
Green mountain 150
stock 100
hammer 50

Total 549

Blue T 429

129 or so more and at that it seems a bit conservative of a price for a build up 100$ for a stock seems a bit light.

I picked up a T a few years ago, just wanted a .22 for cheap blasting, but liked the idea of a target semi. This was before I looked into aftermarket stuff and realized what was out there. All I did was tweak it a bit, sanded out the barrel groove in the stock to free float the barrel, and bedded the reciever and the first 2 inches of the barrel. I keep a cosistent torque on the main screw and that's it. I can wing the thumb tack off the target within 2 shots @50yds, no foolin'. The problem? I'm bored with it. If I had to do it again, I'd prolly build one, but it would end up costing me a fortune and I have other things to play with.
