Good Day,

My girlfriend had the opportunity to shoot a Ruger 1022 at the range last week and enjoyed the fit and accuracy.

She has chosen the ruger 1022 Target as a potential purchase for her rimfire at the range.

Looking for any of your comments regarding the target model as I have have no real experience with the model.

Thanks in advance.

i hav one and like it but i find the Rugers controls awkward so i had a bolt release installed so i would not have to fiddle with the bolt release and bolt just pull back and release also installed a better extractor and a extended mag release makes mag changes easy no more looking for the button i`am going to change out the trigger one of these days to a timney .
If chooses the Ruger hope she enjoys it.

I have a target model and am plenty happy with it. I am sure that you would end up with a more accurate gun if you got a stock 10/22 and replaced the barrel etc with aftermarket stuff. Probably cost you more that just purchasing at 10/22T to start though.

I have a 10/22T in stainless. I like it. However the trigger in stock form is still too heavy. I had some parts replaced and it's pretty decent now. This makes a huge difference. The 10 round rotary mags are excellent, and I like the laminate stock.

The accuracy is decent, but not phenomenal. If you want more accuracy later on, it's not hard to find a new barrel for them. For most purposes the stock barrel is just fine.

This is what my targets with the 10/22 look like indoors at 20 yards. 5 round groups with Lapua Superclub ammo. This was before I had the trigger worked on, and changed the scope to a Falcon Menace 4-14x. The previous scope was a Burris Fullfield II 3-9x without parallax adjustment. Groups will most likely be a bit smaller now. Keep in mind, this is good for a semi auto that doesn't cost a grand (The spruced up 10/22 rifles are often at the 1K mark when done). But... it won't compete with a high end bolt action rifles, the done up 10/22 target rifles or even some semis like the T/C Benchmark R-55.

The first 4 targets on top were with Lapua. The bottom ones were an ammo test with high velocity. Mine doesn't like the high velocity stuff.
