Ruger 1911 Front sight failed!

This is a know problem at least with the earlier models. Based on what I read a couple of years ago Ruger will replace the site under warranty. I have had mine for about three years and put thousand of rounds through her without issue. I believe they fixed the problem at least three years ago but you may have got old stock. Love that 1911. Been a great firearm.

Thanks for sharing and you're right, my was one of the first batch when they became available here in Canada, I had only maybe 500rds thru my, goes bang everytime and I still love it even though the sight failed. I'm also please with Ruger standing behind their product, slide has been shipped to their warranty center in QC, they have already received it, I should have it back better than new soon!

Happened to mine on the first day of my Black Badge course. Ruger used metal injection molded parts on the earlier models which contributed to this issue. My understanding is that it is no longer an issue with current models. I replaced mine with a fiber optic front sight.
