Ruger 1911 Impression

LOL, so you're the guy who bought the last one! Now I can't decide if to try track down a SR1911, a Sig 1911XO or Nitron or get a Beretta 92FS. I kinda want a 1911 to see what all the hoopla is about with the 1911 fans which is my dilemma.. do I spend $700ish on a Ruger or spend the extra and get a Sig if I can find one I like. lol

It's all a Nightmare !! :)

very nice...soo sweet....but it's $500 more than I'd paid for the Ruger :p at least what the MSRP says

hey padawan...I do admire your pistol....very , very nice...but I have 2 daughters in university lol..so I'm on budget...$350 is 1000 rounds reloads of amo and 4 extra mags :p

Right you are !! I've got a few years yet before my Girls think about University. ( thank god)

Hey Trinimon...sorry buddy ...track one down...from what I'd seen in the reviews and tests ...no 1911 can touch it for the $$$$$....make note...$$...there are for sure better 1911..I'm not delusional..but for the amount of cash you have to spend on one...nothing can touch it .
I just need one for my collection ;).....amo is pricey ...but I shoot IPSC in 40 cal...sooo , just for once in a while trips to the range it should be o.k....unless my buddy will convince me to turn it into a race gun lol

No probs. Glad someone here got the last one. Hard to beat what you get for the price of the SR1911.

Yeah, that Sig is sweet looking but Questar is sold out and even the Carry version is sold out now. Slim pickings for Sigs these days.

True, but if you order one while the sale is on.....you still get the sale price. That Sig 1911 STX is calling my name......so is the C3.:runaway:

got mine looked great felt great but the triger was so loose that it jingled when you shook it side to side and i could not get over it so i sold it before shot one .Called ruger they said that when it was casted the frame that is that the triger slot was too wide and their is nothing they could do .Maybee i am just spoiled with high end 1911 but i like them tight and fitted properly , so i will wait for a refined one by Ruger

You're kidding right? The trigger bows rattle in the frame trigger slot and Ruger says, "Sorry we precision cast the frame slots too large." That means they will all rattle until Ruger changes the casting mold. What else doesn't fit right? Guess I could forget about a decent trigger.

One workaround I've read is to buy an oversized trigger and have it fitted by a gunsmith... that should add on another couple hundred onto a new pistol. Another work around I've seen that costs nothing but time, is to gently flare a couple tabs on the stock trigger. For some folks, the sloppy trigger won't matter and at $700. I could probably live with it since you won't notice the rattle when you're shooting. :p

You are quite right on both fixes. Depending on the trigger bow material you can also pry it apart a little and let it wear into the slots but why is this found with today's manufacturing techniques. They could do it right for the same price. I saw a you tube comparison to a Springfield Range Officer and the guy complained, "something is rattleing in there" I guess that's it. This guy is very very critical but look at what he said http://www.1911addicts.com/showthread.php?982-Ruger-SR1911-Review&highlight=1911+review This makes it almost impossible to order on line if I have to personally handle the gun at the counter to check it out for fit. Also, I travel in the states and look at guns when I can. I think theirs are a little better than ours. Is there a chance they send close seconds to Canada because we'll take it and it's hard to return stuff? Am I too paranoid?

Looks like the reviewer got a good one with no trigger rattle.

I have one coming...according to tracking should be here on Tuesday....main reason I got it were great reviews of this gun has all over the net....I'm sure you can get better build 1911 , but for a lot more $$$$$$...and looks like the reviewer from the link above likes this gun :D

You should have done more research. For the same price point you could also get a very tight custom fitted STI Spartan. Sure, there are good reviews about the Ruger SR1911 out there but there are also too many complaints about it being loose out of the box or getting loose after substantial range time. Seems to be hit or miss with the Ruger. The STI Spartan goes through a very meticulous QC and it shows.

Received mine today...O happy day!!!

Just received my SR after what seems like eternity...but it was worth the wait.

By most shooters' standards, the slide is a little loose left-right and up-down. The trigger wiggles as well. But in the two areas where fit really counts to me....the trigger pull and barrel to slide fit, my SR is outstanding. Trigger pull is an estimated 3 pounds, creepless, let-off is like the proverbial glass rod-breaking and overtravel and reset almost imperceptible. Double-taps should be a breeze.

IIRC, none of my Colts ever came with a stock trigger this good!

The barrel to slide fit is bank vault solid. This SR has everything I need.

Ruger outdid itself on my SR, based on my past experience with the brand.

Can't wait to get it to the range.

The slide is loose and the trigger wiggles hmmm... however, the barrel is tight to the slide good.. Please keep us posted especially after 500 rounds of ball. Thanks!
