Has anyone on here had one in hand and to the range yet?? I'm looking to get back in to 1911's again after a hiatus, having gone from 5 to zero a couple of years ago.

I've owned 5" guns, Combat Commanders, and LW Commander format guns from Colt, Springfield (new and old), Para (never again) and several parts guns and all worked well for me, however I've decide that I want a LW Commander format gun with the only real stipulation being that it needs to have 70-series lockwork and be in "God's Caliber". While I'm not crazy about the 2 tone look of the Ruger LWC that is fixable with CeraKote so I'm thinking it's probably my best bet for the dollar.

Thoughts, input and suggestions?? Personal experience with the Ruger LWC especially relevant...

thanks

Well, I can give you my assessment of the "standard" Ruger 1911 commander. I just got it last week. It's rough around the edges. Had to smooth down the trigger serrations with 400 grit right away. They were sharp enough to make my finger hurt. The trigger pull is acceptable, but not great. The grips loosened up and had to be snugged up after 50 rounds. It hits a bit low. No malfunctions at all. Magazine springs are very stiff, which isn't all bad. All in all, a fairly good pistol I got a smoking deal on it, so was willing to accept some imperfections. I'm not disappointed at all.

I literally just purchased one for my wife less than 1/2 hr ago. She has an SR9 and doesn't like the squirt gun trigger on that. Should have the red tape done on this shortly. Hopeing to shoot it this weekend.
Will give full report here soon as possible.
