took the 1A .303 out shooting today.
with the open sights and using my truck as a standing rest at 120 paces (110-115 yards) got the following results.
federal 180 grain SP 3" groups
IVI Mk8Z 3.5" groups
the IVI seems to string vertically, while the federal is horizontal. i expect handloads to cut these groups down a bit as would an actual benchrest and i intend to scope it. groups where typically 2 close together and 1 flyer that is most likely my fault. as is i have no problem using it for hunting as the standing rest pretty much simulates a lot of shots that present themselves in the field.
it wasn't with the .303 but the best group of the day was 2 5/8" with a .32 special.
