I've been looking at picking up a .22lr pistol for awhile now, just for some affordable plinking and training which I certainly need. Although most of the more reliable .22 pistols end up looking like space zapper guns I noticed that I really like the look of this gun, and considering it follows the ergonomics of the 1911 makes it nice for my little girl sized hands. I've fired a Mark 3 before and the gun is a fantasticly accurate bugger, that makes an accuracy king out of even the biggest noobs like myself! Only trouble is that I've not been able to locate anyone with one in stock which is no real surprise. Any gunners out there that have an inkling as to where I might find one, or a good dealer to order one from? It's ok if I have to order one, after all there is a feeding frenzy going on at the moment. Thanks for the info and your time everyone.

Would yours happen to be the gold anodized version of the gun in the photo? I much prefer what I'd guess is a new version of the gun with a more 'subdued' colour scheme I'd say. I enjoy Bond but I don't really need a golden gun! However, I realize that this might end up a case of beggars can't be choosers, that I'll have to find out.

When it comes to Ruger products, look around and then buy if you find one you like. Ordering them is kind of pointless for the next year or two as Ruger hasn't been exporting since some time last year and won't be again any time soon due to domestic demand(apparently they've stopped taking domestic orders as well). At least this is what I've been told....if someone cares to refute this I'll be happier for it.

The one i have is as pictured on the shooting centre website. To my knowledge it's the only version of the LITE that ever made it to Canada and it's an excellent gun.

Get a set of hogue wrap around finger grips, and a black compensator on bay .. Live a little .. There is a guy in the states selling an after market cocking leaver for them also .. They tend to bite the hand ( finger ) that has fed them ...

Gold grows on you .. May be 12 month wait for a tatical version

like mentioned above, get the compensator for it and some hogue wrap arounds, its shoots and handles like a dream!

here's mine.
i am switching out the tan grips for black as soon as they get them in stock.

as for getting the new pure black one, you'll be lucky to see those in canada within 18 months to 2 years is my guess.
we usually dont see the new stuff from ruger for about a year and change after then hit the market, and that was before all the feeding frenzy that is going on now.
and now with ruger openly stating that they will be filling all domestic orders BEFORE they export..... well heck, id snap up what i can find and dont worry about the color, hehe.

friend of mine (or is now that i buy so many guns through him) has a small mom and pop gun store and he told me that he dosnt figure he will be able to get the 22/45 Lites back in again. i meant to ask him more on that but he was buisy so i was gonna save it for a later conversation. but it did make me fearful that they where gonna stop importing them for some silly reason.... like them having a threaded barrel or something like that.

Another, albeit more expensive route is to buy the regular 22/45 secondhand, then get the TacSol "upper". I think Wanstalls just received a shipment of them too.

Thanks for the info guys. Sounds like I should get on getting one of these sooner than later. I can handle the bronze colour if its that or nothing. Not looking to turn this into a tactical rig, just figured that it would be a good trainer for me and the wife to get some trigger time on the cheap.

the grips are $20 and they make the gun sooooooooo much nicer to shoot.
not that the stock grips are bad, i just like the wrap around squishiness that is Hogue.

the compensator is just for looks, so you can save yourself $40 there.

but i would recommend at the very least upgrading the front site to a fiber optic.
the stock ramp is just that.... a black ramp.

and while i probably would have gone for the black one instead of the gold now that i have the gold i dont mind it at all.
i prefer black guns.... less things to shine at night!
but the gold does look nice.
its a real eye catcher at the range!

also, just a thought, if your not set in stone on the ruger 22/45 Lite you may wanna look at the Browning Buckmark URL Pratical.
has the wrap around grips, bull barrel and fiber optic sights stock on it.
its heaver, probably at least 2 to 3 times more then the Ruger, but when ya shoot the gun dosnt jump because of the bull barrel.

i have both, both are fantastic guns!
but the ruger is much more wife friendly because of the weight.

Well The shooting centre is out so the search broadens. I emailed CRAFM but they are dealing with the flood they had so ill be waiting to hear from them. I'm after the Ruger mostly because I've fired one before and know what to expect. I also was looking for the lighter weight mostly because the little woman is actually a little woman, trying to make shooting as fun for her as possible so I can shoot even more without consequence!

I emailed every gun store in Canada looking for one and the only poeple that had one were shooting centre. That's where I got mine. They had one very recently but I guess you were a little slow on the trigger worrying about the anodized finish.......same thing with the SR-9 stainless. Nobody has one in stock.

It was less about the finish ultimately and more about getting royal ascent on the home front :) I don't think that calling less than 24 hours after my initial post would be considered dilly dallying honestly.
